Maybe because Punjabis have bad memories of him? Very interesting find.

Paki Pashtuns don't care about ASA, just like most of Afghan Tajiks don't care about the Sassanids and the Iranian Shahanshas.

          Nothing stands forever, guys.

I also don't care about ASA and I'm Afghan Pashtun....

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Indics are paranoid that if we learn more about out history, then we'll want to separate. If the unity of their country is so weak, one should really question why it exists when these fascists have to do suppression of the culture, language, & history of minorities in order to govern that land.

Look at topic instead of specific terms:

Ahmad Shah Durrani - Google Trends

                Balochistan #1, followed by KP.

Also, looking at worldwide stats, the difference in interest between Afghanistan and Pakistan is huge:

Ahmad Shah Durrani - Google Trends

On the other hand, seems like Afghans don't care about Sher Shah Suri much:

Sher Shah Suri - Google Trends

Mirwais Khan Hotak is way more popular in Afghanistan:

                Mirwais Hotak - Google Trends

Interestingly, Khushal Khan Khattak is more popular in Afghanistan:

                Khushal Khattak - Google Trends

                Same with Rahman Baba:

Bacha Khan is pretty popular in Afghanistan:

Here's another interesting one. Hakimullah Mehsud searched more in Afghanistan than Pakistan (other TTP topics have a lot of interest in Afghanistan too):

                Compare it to Mullah Omar:

Apparently the Durand Line does nothing to affect the popularity of Nazia Iqbal and Gul Panra:

I'm not familiar with how Google creates these numbers, but it should be pointed out that internet access should be much more common in KP than most of Afghanistan and Balochistan (and Punjab likely higher than PK).

Looks like you're right about the Sassanids. Look at the difference between searches in Iran/Tajikistan versus Afghanistan:

                  Sasanian Empire - Google Trends

                  Achaemenids fare even worse:

All the figures you pointed out are related to history which is of little interest to Pakistani's apart from Rehman Baba or Khushal Khan .

Punjab is more interested in Ranjit Singh than Ahmad Shah Durrani:

I can see why people like you might not care about history, since the only thing you care about has none of it, and every reminder that Pakistan is just a set of arbitrary borders carved out of India/Afghanistan/etc. by your British masters is a dagger to your heart, but you should actually try reading before responding.

Rahman Baba and Khushal Khan Khattak are searched for more in Afghanistan than in Pakistan. And I understand that a Punjabi may not have any interest in Pashto music, but Nazia Iqbal and Gul Panra are modern Pakistani Pashtun singers. They have nothing to do with history, and since you claim to be a Pashtun, you should certainly recognize their names.

Internet things are not representative sample...People do search to know about event ...Like if i search some event it does not mean i support that person or event..In fact when i visit Punjab i see Durrani name at shops or office but neither observed Ranjit and Co ...name of any company or shop..
As i said stand in any street and asked do they like Ranjit or Durani every body will say Durrani as he was muslim ruler or king

Every Pashtun should be thankful of Mirwais Hotak, doesn't matter if he is Afghan or Pakistani. He is the man who saved us from being forcefully converted to Shiism.

The sad thing is that most Pakistani Pashtuns are completely ignorant of Mirwais Hotak. My mom had no idea of who he was until I told her.
