Any place with income inequality (i.e. every place in the world) has a version of this. Thank god as well. It's part of a well functioning system.
the two systems also have different purposes. caste system is mainly for racial segregation. intercaste-marriage is generally prohibited in Indian society. (probably in origin, it was implemented by light skin invaders of ancient south asia on the black native population (australoid/negrito/andamanese related population) that roamed the subcontinent)

What's the difference in treatment of lower caste and lower class? Looks the exact same to me.

Lower caste people are stuck in low castes forever. Nothing they or their children do will take them out of their low caste; they are "low caste" simply because of who their parents are.

Low class people are generally poor people, and people who work jobs with low social standing. Low class people can get rich or earn enough respect to get treated better.

In practice, a lot of societies treat their lower class population poorly, and there's little room for upward mobility. But the caste system sanctions that fact as part of religion, and makes low social standing a permanent and genetic fixture. It may be similar to other societies at a cursory level, but is way worse.

With caste system you are doomed to spend an eternity being treated like sh!t and bound by chains that prevent you from doing most stuff the better off castes can do for something as dumb as fair skin while with the class system the second you get money you are part of the little club along with the rest of the rich **** and you get to oppress the same people you were standing with a while ago.

That's the difference between the caste and class system.

Literally 2 posts ago I said exactly this... yet that other guy was saying there's such a big difference.

Seems like it's almost the same thing. The only difference in a class based society, like I said, is that you're not born into it.
