Did he really think the two are in any way comparable? Or that we'd be embarrassed by someone doing something that's not only a part of our culture, but more importantly a Sunnah of our Prophet Salla Allahu Alayhi wa Salam? Seems like he's projecting his feelings towards his own culture onto others.
