British have portrayed Pashtuns as villains in their works but one thing they admitted was that Pashtun was not ready to lick their boots even if he was on their side. For example they mention a Pro-British Mohmand Khan hunting together with newly arrived British officer, and on making a mistaking during the hunt, the Angraiz called him a dog in anger, the same insult he used to hurl at his desi servants......Next day the Mohmand chief and his brother ambushed the British officer and murdered him to avenge the insult. Both were arrested and hanged.
Herbert Edwards , the first English commissioner of Bannu, describes a Wazir chieftain in the following manner ;
"An enormous man with a head like a lion , he trod my carpets like a lord. The Hindustani servants were struck dumb and expected the earth to open. A more splendid specimen of human nature in the rough i never saw. He made no bow , but with a simple 'Salam Alaikum' took his seat"
On the other hand Hindustanis desi men had this relationship with Gora Sahib
