I'm concerned. There's too many uneducated people, I'm worried historical heritage like this may be either neglected, or destroyed before it's even preserved. Maybe I'm not giving enough credit but the Bamiyan Buddhas and even damage to the Swat Buddha make me concerned.

That would be so meta if SWAT had a SWAT Team.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

I am sorry to say by this history on not related to Pashtuns, since Pashtuns do not claim to have Buddhist/Hindu heritage, Pashtuns orignally probably came from Central or West Asia, and mixed (only some what) with the locals, I would say only 10-15% of Pashtuns genes are from those Buddhist/Hindus

You realize that before Islam, people in regions which are currently dominated by Muslims had various beliefs including Buddhism and Hinduism, right? What's this came from the Central or West Asia? When did they come from there?

Yours is the remark of a spiteful hindu trying to monopolize all hindu heritage as if your ancestors were living there before we drove them out (a big lol to that).

But Pashtuns identity/culture is very very different from Indics, this proves that the buddist/hindu past of the region does not belong to them for the most part. and yes, it was indics who lived there, ancestors of present day populations likePunjabis/Hindkowans/Kashmiries, Pashtuns did drive them out of many regions like (Peshawar)

So what do Indics have to do with buddhism? Different regions practice(d) Buddhism and had a different culture, much the same way for Islam as well. Even though hinduism is largely isolated to India now, different people have different cultures with that too. I sent you a PM proving you wrong, go read it.

Yes there was an element of "pushing out" but they also lived in those regions. Maybe not as many, but still lived there.

@Samandri please settle this. He is right that Pakhtuns love Islam like no tomorrow, but I don't think he's right in saying just because they had that in the past, the heritage still has nothing to do with them. Were the locals driven out and displaced, or is he wrong?

are u some dumb idiot? Buddihsm took form in India, Buddah was born on the present India/Nepal border

Also Pashtuns themselves dont claim anything from Budddhist or Hindus, so how will they be related to these guys? Pashtun culture and codes are very very different, Pashtun cultural origins defiantly lie some where in the Middle East

Your intellect is so sub par, yet you speak with immense confidence. By responding to you i feel like I'm doing charitable work.

Pakhtuns are Muslim and therefore identify with Islam today. Buddha, wherever he was born, exported his religion. Much the same as how Islam was exported. It took different forms in different places because of different cultures. Using your poor logic, Saudis claim all things Islamic.

These relics are in swat, and are therefore part of our past. The end.

Pashtuns do not claim to belong to the region, nor they are since their culture is so different from the locals. People like Kalash/Hunza are more local and in fact Kalash have a ancient vedic religion, Pashtun culture is more west asian, this is the reason all the history of the region do not belong to you, it belongs to the other people in the region

Yes they do. The locals are Pakhtuns, and their culture is not "so different" from Pakhtuns. Pakhtun culture is not so different from Pakhtun culture.

What region do you think they claim to belong to, and why are you saying Swat/Barikot is not in it? Kalash is a terrible example.

This buddhist site is in Logar province south of Kabul, also populated by pashtuns.

Buddhism was far more widespread than you think. Look at this
