Read the history of Punjab by S.M.Lateef. The 19th century Lahori author is generally hostile to Afghans and sympathetic to Sikhs in his history, but he does mention all the things as in this snippet......

Moreover what Banda Singh and his successors did to Punjabi Muslims , is recorded by contemporary Mughal historians, not British. Moorecraft, mentioned in the snippet , was an employ of East India company who traveled through Ranjeet Singh's kingdom. He had no reasons to be biased in favour of Muslims, he recorded what he saw.

Lastly, your mention of urination thing, was claimed by a gossipy 'novelist', John Masters.......he wrote fictitious and dramatic stories

Which sources?.......such claims on web do not give citations......there was no Muslim general of note in Sikh army, only some petty henchmen. But they did prefer Hindus, for example Diwan chand was their famous Hindu general. Soldiers were also overwhelmingly Sikhs.

Let me clarify that Ranjeet Singh, unlike the Sikh fanatics of 18th century, was not on mission to exterminate Muslims........still he was not a secular and liberal as portrayed by some. He had banned Azaan and cow slaughter in Punjab , Kashmir and Pakhtunkhwa.........Of course Pashtuns, unlike Punjabis and Kashmiris, did not obey these orders and continued Azaan and cow slaughter.....in response, Hari Singh would send army to Punish those Pashtun villagers which would have slaughtered cow....for some reason cow slaughter was enraging Sikhs very much.....

They had to take Peshawar twice in a span of 18 years (Very short in those days... it's not like today, empires lasted a while back then). Marra first of all dont quote from wikipedia............secondly it gives demography of the Punjab in that period, not the ethnic composition of Sikh army.......You need to study the history of Sikhs, all the men of fighting age were available for fighting, it was not caste-restricted so even a convert from Dalit caste became a fighter following the 'khalsa' code.......

Sikhs directly ruled Peshawar valley for 14 years (1834-1848) and before that it was tributary since 1823.
