  • Does an ''Afghan race'' exist?

Is there racial beliefs in Afghanistan, like there is elsewhere in the world (Europe, America, China, Japan, etc. homogenous countries = basically countries where everyone looks the same)?

I believe there is. for example Pasthuns or Farsiwans rarely marry their daughter/son with a mongoloid looking Hazara or Uzbek. and when marriage with an Hazara, Uzbek, etc. it's usually individuals that's little to no Mongol looking. Hazaras are/were usually hated for their looks also, could be wrong, but there is some truth to it.

    What's your thought?

Are Mongoloid looking people in Afghanistan immigrants from Mongolia, or a result of Chengiz Khan and his army mass raping Persian/Pashtun women (when he conquered Persian/Achaemenid empire)?

    Afghanistan demographics:

    Pashtun 42%
    FarsiWans 27%
    Hazara 9%
    Uzbek 9%
    Aimak 4%
    Turkmen 3%
    Baloch 2%
Others (Pashai, Nuristani, Arab, Brahui, Pamiri, Gujjar, etc.) 4%

I am not a racist, but this is just an observation: succesfull nations are more or less very homogenous (Europe, USA (majority European), China, Japan, Korea, etc. , etc.), and usually one or max 2 ethnicity in the whole country (like in Germany or Italy, 95-99% of people is ethnically German or Italian)

Hazaras are descended from Turko-Mongol subjects of Chingis Khan's Mongol Empire with minor Iranic input.

India is racially diverse and they're fast becoming a world super power.

Europeans are different ethnicity, just as Afghanistan are different ethnicities but not necessarily race except with Hazaras. Your way of gauging distinctions between races is rather arbitrary.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

You don't have to be ethnically homogenous to be successful. Look at Russia (something like 200 ethnicities) and India, and how successful they've become. Also look at Iran, where there is a similar situation to the one in Afghanistan. Persians make up about (similar to Pashtuns) 47% of Iran, yet look at how successfully they've imposed their culture on the non-Persian Iranians, to the point where almost everything in the country is in Persian. Same can be applied here in Afghanistan, but with Afghan (Pashtun) culture and limiting Tajik culture. If any Tajiks are unsatisfied with the change, they can go to their own Tajikistan for refuge.

No, because you are giving exemples of ethnically homogenous countries of europe or east asia while afghanis are mish mash of many races.

It doesn't work like that, pashto culture and language isn't sosphisticated like Persian culture for modern world. Your scenario is only possible in country where 95% of people speak pashto as native tongue. Your best bet is to get inspiration from Bengali brothers for independent country where 99% of people speak pashto language.

Even after that it will be gigantic task to standarize pashto dialects in to one and make everyone happy, good luck.

There is already a standardised form of Pashto, the Central Ghilji Dialct. Pashtun culture isn't as sophisticated as Persian culture? Tajiks aren't Persian, neither do they follow true Persian culture. True Persian culture is talking in a gay accent, shaving your own chest hair and other feminine things. Tajik culture on the other hand is that of pedophilia and bacha Bazi. So, there are similarities between Persian and Tajik culture, but they're not the same thing.

I don't think you quite get my point. My point is that our Pashtun leaders are way too lenient on these bacha baz Tajiks. Giving them rights, allowing them to take up a majority of Parliament etc. When you have Tajiks mostly running the government, you get bacha bazi and opium production everywhere. Even though the Taliban are the dogs of Porkistan, they still were able to stop ththe practise of Tajik culture (bacha Bazi) and opium.

Writen Pashtu is the same everywhere. Most Pashtun dont really see their dialect as something special and if the goverment would try to make it more standerdised most will just go with it. You make it seem like it is an imposible task, when in fact its just lacking goverment suport.

There are 4 types of races in the world, Negroid, Austroloid, Caucasian, Mongolid. Most people in the world are mixed of all these groups. Afghans according to genetics are mostly a mix of the Caucasian stock similar to their west asian neighbors, the only things is, Afghans do show about 10-15% mixture from the Austroloid stock also, since they are very close to India

Austroloid race includes all the ancient people stretching from South Asia to Australia and Pacific Islands. People like Veddoids and Andaman Islanders of India, Papuans, Melenasians Australian Aboriginals etc....

So true! I normally just read these forums, but had to sign up just so I could salute you.

Tajiks like to associate bacha bazi with Pashtuns, but having family on both sides of the line, I have to say that cases of bacha bazi are extremely rare on the Pakistan side than on the Afghanistan side.

this is the Indian avarage (10-15% Australoid):

I have never seen Australoid in Afghans, maybe Pakistani Pashtuns since many of them have mixed with Indics (Punjabis, Sindhis). Someone from Afghanistan will never be confused for an Indian (Australoid admixture). Not even the really darkest type of Afghan:

Pashtuns don't run the country, because Tajiks, Hazara and other groups are the most peaceful and well educated people in Afghanistan.

Same situation in Pakistan, where there 2-3 times more Pashtuns than there are in Afghanistan, and Pasthuns being 2nd largest group in Pakistan, yet they have barely any power in Pakistani government.

Pasthun culture is very much compatible with pan-Iranic culture of Afghanistan, so this is why there is no ethnic clashes in afghanistan, yet there is in pakistan with East Pakistan being culturally Indian.

It's a shame that Pakistani Pashtuns are being Indianized, despite being 2nd largest group there. they should have more power in Pakistan, but because they aren't very fond of education and progress, they will soon be completely Indianized by the Punjabis.

Those first two guys are a lot more then 10-15%, also by Austroloid I dont mean the Australian Abroginals of today, I actually mean the people of the first out of africa migration that came to India and rest of south east asia/Oceania, Pacfic Islands etc... similar to the Andamanese people here in eastern India:
