Even if this was accurate, which has yet to be determined. This wouldn't demonstrate that Afghans were once Hindus or Buddhists, it would just mean the Maurya Dynasty ruled. Furthermore at this time no such people as "Afghans" existed.

I'm not a fan of Ghani or the current Afghan political scene for that matter. However, i think what Ghani is trying to work towards is to benefit from India's technological and economic advancements ...because Pakistan has pretty much none of that.
