Many claim to be moghuls in punjab, no idea how true their claims are. Probably few are genuine who had good relations with moghul empire and adopted titles like baig, chugtai etc So even they will not necerarly look like mongols. And then there are muhajirs who claim every ancestry under the sun a part from native. So maybe few genuine mughals among muhajirs as well, who knows.

Mughals are largely mixed Turks; in Pakistan I remember they were famous for being blacksmiths. Not much of Pakistan's population are Mughal, but then again Pakistan is a very ethnically diverse country.

Yep, many lohars claim to be mughals. They are not real ones but local kammi people who claim royal ancestry.

BTW if somebody is only 1/16th mughal, then of course they won't look Mughal, there are black Americans who are even 20% European by DNA but still look full black.

If somebody is 1/16th mughal, why are they calling themselves mughals?

actually on a interesting note, the Jatts of Haryana and UP are actually 20% Northern European, yet they look completely Indian, same way Kalash in Pakistan are 11% northern european, but they look much more European then Jatts Indians, so yes I agree that genetics work in strange ways

that component is not really european, just some hidden ANE. Hap is outdated calculator now. Kalash have more caucasian component which explain their looks IMO.

It isn't European per say, but it is North Eurasian component which is mostly found in Scandinavians and Northern Europeans of today in very high percentage, close to to 70-80% of their autmosal dna. Most likely Jatts got it through their Scythian history, most Jatts say they are related to Scythians. It may be true, though one thing I dont understand is why do Jatts from Haryana/UP have higher of this component, then Punjabi Jatts, who are only 12%, and even pashtuns/kalash only around 11%. Even UP jatts are scoring 18% northern European component. Also UP Brahmins are 13% of this component, it clearly seems these populations have some european/north eurasian connections
