  • Historic Demographics of Pashtuns above the Northern Hindu Kush?

So, are the northern Afghanistan Tajik areas originally Pashtun?

Do Pashtuns have the right to kill Hazarajat people and re-settle them with Pashtuns due to the belief that Pashtuns originally lived in that region but were pushed south by Mongolians?

Is the Northern Amu-Darya an actual border for Pashtuns?

Post your comments here to explain if Northern Afghanistan belongs to Pashtuns.

I opened a similar thread concerning NWFP whether if the region was originally Pashtun or Punjabi

A space dedicated to conferring the happenings that make up the history of the Pashtun population and how contemporary and previous generations yield justifications and solutions for them.

    lay down facts.....

Pashtun land is defined as stretching from the Indus river all the way to the oxus which would be the Amu Darya so yes, Northern Afg is pashtun land as well. However due to tons of invasions have caused pashtuns to migrate southwards and not to mention they are nomads, as nomads migrate.

This whole question is bent backwards. Were the pashtuns configurated in it's current form in ancient times? All our historical sources tells us no. If not, which people can be seen as the ancestors of the pashtuns? And what land did they occupy? Well, since the bulk of the pashtun people are largely conpriced of different Avetan-speaking Kamboj-tribes (who migrated south from Bactria around 1500 BC) who are also the main ancestor of the tajiks of Afghanistan, Saka-tribes who migrated south from Central Asia into Afghanistan and India around year 0, and Kushano-Hephthalites who migrated from Todays western China between year 0-500 AD. We could therefore say that the land between ancient east China down to the Indus and east into the western part of the Caucasus, has at times technically been "pashtun" territory. Sounds kinda overexagerated, right?

If you regard the old measure of the land between the Oxus and the Indus (the ancient derinition of the Aryan lands or Aryana Veijah) as the pashtun heartland, then the tajiks must be included, creating a wider tribe defined among scholars as the "east-iranians or Arian in pashto and dari. If this is done then an invation by pashuns to "regain" northern territory is completely unnecissary since the tajiks (of whom the pashtun share ancesary) already inhabits the area. Sure, the hazaras are largely of turk/mongol ancestry, but they share culutre and language with the neightbouring Aryan-populations, the invation of Hazarajat would not only be a total d***-move, it would also go against pashtunwali.

I think a good chunk Hazarajat was originally Pashtun whereas Herat and the regions north of the Hindu Kush were non-Pashtun like they still are today.

I believe at one point, all of Afghanistan was inhabited by Pashtuns all the way to the north until tons of invasions displaced Pashtuns forcing them to emigrate to the south and east where majority of them still live today.
