The man had redeeming qualities no doubt, and it is easy to be swayed by historical revisionism and a romanticized view of the past, but the man was a criminal who also had the blood of thousands on his hands. He oversaw a brutal foreign occupation of his country, and unfortunately threw his lot in with the wrong team

Just because he was the best of a bad bunch doesnt make him good

I always weep when I read about the last days of Dr Najeeb Shaheed. The way he was brutally killed and hanged is really barbaric and savage. he might have been tried in a court instead of murdering him without trial. This is what the judicial system of Taliban can give to the world.

He being the chief of Khad might have committed heinous crimes, for which except newspaper articles , we do not have any proof , but as a president there is not a single stigma on his character.

His attachment with communism may be understood in the context of his times. The whole Central Asia, eastern Europe, Russia and many other countries at that time were communists. It was an ideological and military wave which took every one in its way.

The similar Wahabi wave flooded each and every village of Pashtuns and today we see many Pashtun leaders as extremist wahabis.

His policies as president were more nationalistic than communist. He was a true Afghan Pashtun. Long live the great Najeeb.

He was really good at making political enemies and people disappear. I'm glad he paid with his life for his war crimes.

why is it that the so called nationalists are the only ones who praise these leaders that were installed foreigners and ruled as a concubine during an occupation?
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I think most of you guys are westren born afghans and know very little about the politics in back home.
Najeebullah asked the Russains to leave when he took over right.
Now why the so called mujaadeen of pakistan fought him and destroy their own country and army?
When he invited the criminals and pakistani tools to come to kabul and participate in election why they refused?
Why did the pakistani criminals refused the peaceful way and decided to bomb their own country for pakistan?
I do,nt understand why they continue the war after russains left afghanistan?
            They only serve other,s interests.
End of the story and untill this day poor people are suffering.

Someone like Najib would never exist if it wasn't for the Russian Occupation.

Its the same with taliban, this fools think they fight holy jihad against kafir US, but when US lives they will still fight, they only fight for power.
I guess people were right about that history repeats itself.
But fools like randolph can't see the biger picture they are just blind and shortsighted.
