  • punjabi muslims helped ranjit singh fight Afghans?

Hi, I can't find any info if muslim pakistani punjabis helped their sikh punjabi empire of ranjit singh to fight Afghan tribes. Is it true that muslim pakistani punjabis backstabbed afghans by helping their sikh relatives?

possibly, I am not really 100% sure of the history, sikhs were pretty cruel to muslims, so I doubt they would have supported them, I think they probably stayed neutral

Yeah I know but I used pakistani to differentiate between muslim punjabis and sikh punjabis.

Shah Shuja was a traitor he gave the sikhs Koh-i-Noor and Ranjit Singh was using Shah shuja the traitor to make Afghans fight eachother. Ranjit Singh was sucessful doing this and while the Afghans were busy infighting Ranjit Singh took over Peshawar.

This could very possibly be true, however, as mercenaries.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Ranjit Singh had Muslim soldiers recruited from Lahore and Multan regions. The concept of loyalty was quite different back then.

They did make small alliances with some muslim clans of Punjab but remained Sikh-only forces. Ranjeet singh organized them and trained them otherwise sikhs previous activities were killing and harassing as much muslims as possible then retreat to hills on arrival of Afghan or Mughal forces. Sikhs were peaceful , but became ruthless warriors due to Mughal' cruelty. Their anti-muslim sentiments were always stronger than ethnic sentiments...at partition it was sikhs who didnt allow peaceful migration of meek punjabi musalman from east punjab.

it's like that everywhere. Only afghans prefer destroying each other first and then moving on to others.

majority of muslim punjabis did,nt support ranjeet.
In fact Ranjeet treated muslims very badly. He ordered not to call azan in mosques.
Ranjeet was nationalist so it is possible he got some support from muslims.
