Dear Toramana, thank you for interest in our people. Linguistically Armenian is neither Iranic neiher Indo Iranic.
Armenian forms an own branch of indueuropean languages, but...
But armenian has the following relations to Iranic languages:
a) The Armenian branche is somehow closer to the IndoIranic branch
b)Armenian has many borrowings from Parthian and some ancient Iranic languages
c) Armenian has many borrowings from Farsi


Some things are similar in Armenianand in Pashto, at least i understood like that.
For example verbs in -el in both languages, and some word roots.

Genetically we are less close to Iranic people, originally Iranic are considered as far as I know R1a Y-chromosome haplogroup, while Armenians are considered originally R1b.

Culturally.
Culturally Armenians have a lot of Iranic influence and for that reason we seem very close. First of all in very ancient times we had an invasion of Saka tribes in caucasus, later it seems that the Saka people got assimilated and the first king dynasties seem to be Sakas. Further we had close contact and rivalry with the Median tribes that later formed the nothwest Iranian peoples(like Kurds, Baloch, Tolish, Zaza, Gilani...).
Further we were part of Achemenid state, whe under different kings we had from good to bad relations. For example defending the Achemenid state from Alexander the Macedonian our king Vahan and all his group died combatting in a small number the army of Alexander.
Our people embraced Parthia overthrow of the Greeks and we were ruled by differen't Parthian dynasties and in this period got very influenced by Parthian and later Greek cuture.
Why?
Armenia of that times was doing well under the tolerant Parthian state, but after the revolution in Persia the Sasanian kings came to power and our kings oposed them vehemently, they went there with wars and didn't want to accept them, at the end they fell under intrigues of Byzantine empire and decided to forcfully christianize Armenia, to keep their power and be independent of Sasanians. The history of those times was in somehow similar like the one of Pashtuns of today. Our country got divided soon , an the christian fanatics tried to exterminate our culture completely, so that wars weren't ending for 400 years, untillwe became very few and later invasions of Arabs, Turkic peoples and Mongolians completely destroyed what Armenia was once.



About Sakas, they were a big Iranic omunity without central government, they were spread from South Russia to Kazakhstan, China and Central Asia.
Their remeinings are the Eastern Iranian languages like Pashto or Ossetian, but their culture influenced later many other cultures, for example Turkic people.
They had a long history of fights for example with other Iranic tribes that weren't seminomadic, and these motifs you can see in Shahnameh in the fights between Iran and Turan.
I don't know about all, but some Scythian/Saka tribes had even women as worriors and fighters.

Naw, Scythians are just a large mix of random ethnic groups that lived in Central Asia.

Iranian, Uralic, Turkic etc. , Greeks just gave the region east of Ukraine the name "Scythia", and any random group that lived there "Scythians".

Punjabis looks 100% desi, while pasthuns on average look west asian, some pashtuns may look desi but those are minority. Just look at the pakistani cricket team and see the difference between punjabi and pashtun players, huge difference to be honest
