Afghanistan The Graveyard Of Empires?

I agree with Tor_Khan and Bharati. Afghans like to look towards their past in nostalgia. We should look towards are future, and be only proud of our own actions and what we've done in our lives. Dwelling in the past only hinders your ability to succeed in the future. We should know of our past, but not remain there while the whole world moves on. We should know our history, but only to not repeat the same mistakes. Don't let your ego control you, it won't fruit anything positive.True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us. - Socrates

Afghanistan is not a graveyard of empires.
In fact, Afghanistan itself is a graveyard of limbless and traumatized people, ruins and poverty, where culture and civility were the first to die. And when I say 'Afghanistan', I mean all the places where Afghans live."If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".
"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

I am going to take the words of professors whose done research over clowns on this forum who have never been to Afghanistan. The Graveyard of Empires label is given to Afghanistan not by Afghans but by foreigners who have tried to subdue and control the area of Afghans. Most Afghans have never heard of the term and neither have they heard about its history of how empires have had a hard time in Afghanistan in comparison to other areas.

Whose looking at the past. We are talking about the present. Why is America giving up?Originally posted by pashtanajan View PostI agree with Tor_Khan and Bharati. The Afghans on the ground are trying to get rid of what they think is the obstacle to improvement and that is to force the foreigners out.Originally posted by tor_khan View PostYou make a salient point Bharati.
Many diaspora youth misguide some of their energies by viewing our past through a lens tinted with nostalgia/mythology. History is very important but in a practical sense facing today's challenges is perhaps even more so.
What are we doing today to improve our lot?

If this was true, then people like you and me can go there and easily become Kings. We can easily enslave these cultureless, limbless people since you and I have limbs and culture.Originally posted by Levanaye Zalmaye View PostIn fact, Afghanistan itself is a graveyard of limbless and traumatized people, ruins and poverty, where culture and civility were the first to die.
But reality is if you or I go there and attempt such things we are going to need protection of our foreign masters with a mighty army or we would be in that graveyard.

so you think the only person whose knowledge of the Pashtun history or pashtunwali can be considered credible is that of someone who happened to be born to a Pashtun father and is able to speak pashtu?? Everyone else is incapable of telling right from wrong??Originally posted by Friend View PostHe is a big Pashtun carrying a big turbine on his skull to teach us Pashtun history and Pashtunwali here. He is the backbone of PF.
Listen to him carefully

Dont you think that type of mentality and pattern if thought is what has kept us behind in time and the reason as to why we can't stop fighting with each others as dogs??
Why don't people understand this?? It's not that complicated. The amount of ignorance amongst some of us is unbelievable. WHY????
I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

I respect the Afghans, but you need to stop thinking that you are superior
If we consider khyber pakhtunkhwa , historically and ethnically part of East afghanistan, It was conquered by the british and Pakistanis.
Just because we dont bow down to the likes of you doesnt mean that we automatically presume we are superior to you.
you need to look up these words: Invading, invaded, conquering, conquered.
If the Pashtuns were conquered by the Arabs then how come we dont speak Arabic today? they conquered Afghanistan with Islam which is not Arab but universal, Islam is not an Arab religion which is where you are mistaken.
But yeah maybe Afghanistan has been conquered, so what your mistaken if you think we are going to forget the fact that numerous super powers have still been DEFEATED that no other country or people have been able to, its an achievement whichever way you look at it so good luck with your work on making Afghans forget their history because it will never happen bhai saab.----------

Have Afghans defeated the former USSR alone? There was no USA, NATO, Saudi, Europe, Pakistan and others? And what we got at the result? Taliban, drugs, terrorism, violence and more war.
If really there is a defeat then do you think today only Afghans are defeating USA ? And what we will get at the result? The same vicious circle.
Be realistic. Lets think and plan for democracy, development and modernism , the only way for prosperity and well being of our people. Forget about this false ideas of grandeur.
