  • Pashtuns of Iran and Turkmenistan

Dear friends, first of all greetings to All of You!
I came back for a moment!
I'd like to ask a question - that perhaps is as well interesting to all of You?!

Many times in statistics and ethnical maps on the internet i find that the Pashtun abitation area includes except Afghanistan and Pakistan also some places of Iran(I think mostly south Khorasan or Sistan ?!)
And even sometimes there are pointet on ethnical maps places in Turmenistan.
    Is that true?
And if, how is the connection of those people to other Pashtuns, are there differences in culture?

    With much respect, your Aliq

i have only seen this in historical maps of the past afghan kingdoms, not ethnic maps. i don't think there are any pashtuns in turkmenistan and very little in iran, but those would be refugees.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

I presume there might be some pashtuns on the border in the south with balochis. I'm not sure though.

I am not sure, but about I think that I read several times that in Iran there are Pashtuns who live there before any wars started?!

I have never heard anything about so-called Pashtuns of Iran other than "Pashtuns live in Iran".

Anything I have ever seen regarding this simply states that they live in Iran.

I have never heard anything else about them so I don't believe in their existence.

As for Turkmenistan, I don't think there any Pashtuns there.

According to Wikipedia there are Pashtuns in Mary province of Turkmenistan.
But I never met Pashtuns from there, I knew only about Baloch.

i think they must be refering to pashtuns who immigrated to those countries after soviet and pakistan invasion of afghanistan.

Most of them are just refugees who immigrated there during the soviet war. They are not native there.

                      But which war in 1926???
It seems more that they left ,because the population decreased in the 20th century.

^These numbers look wrong my friend. I don't recall there being 3,000 pashtuns in iran in 1926 or so on. They look a bit exaggerated.

It was on Turkmenistan brother. I actually wonder too. As i said, Mary province is notable for its Baloch population, but I never get to know about Pashtuns over there. But who knows?
Are there Pashtuns in Badghyz in Afghanistan?
Because part of Badghyz is part of Turkmenistan, may it be that they remained after this region got part of USSR?
If not than it may be falsified.

In the English version of Wikipedia they bring only bigger minorities, but they mention that Pashto is spoken:
Ա՜խ, ընկել եմ քար ու քարափ,

^We have to know how reliable these sources are brother. In this case which is Wikipedia, i don't think it is reliable at all since anybody can edit an article to their own liking and get away with posting false information. I don't recall Baghdis ever being part of Turkmenistan since Turkmenistan used to part of the USSR itself but i know it used to be part of Herat. So there are defiantly Pashtuns there.
