the Yousafzai state was a Sharia-governed entity. Ironic for the nationalists, they haven't figured out that the only way to get Pashtuns to even think about any notions of independence is through religion (Islamist narrativeJ). That's why anpites have failed miserably. The talibs have a better chance at "Pashtun unity".
Oh, and another reason is that the Yousafzai emir family/elite have intermarried with the Pakistani diplomatic elite (i.e Akbar Ahmed). ALL OF THEM.
the wali of swat/nobleman/ruler etc, whatever you call the head of state of the former princely state. actual pashtuns, no syed pirs. Google the Mianguls or Wali of Swat. Daughters and sons. Closely related to the Muslim League, foreign service of Pakistan, pak peoples party (some), generals.

The wali of swat were not yusufzai, in fact not even pakhtun. They were gujraan/gujjar but elected as head in a jirga. The ruler prior to him was a syed. i.e. myagaan and therefore also not a pakhtun.

True but wali e swat was a great administrator. No one can show me such a peaceful and prosper and developed state at the time of wali e swat.
People of his time remember him with good words and pray for him.
