the article totally lacks the period of sassanid reign. the almost controlled kandahar for more than four centuries after the defeat of kushans.
by the way he is right. you completely confused gandhara with kandahar. they are not the same.

Gandharans, just like the Hindu Shahis, were the Punjabi masters of the Afghans ruling over them for many hundreds of years from the Potohar Punjab Hills. This tradition continued in the 19th century when a Punjabi Jatt from Gujranwala subdued these people and even continues upto the current when Punjabis are the masters of the Afghans and controlling their land and country. It is indeed quite nice to see that the Afghans have upheld their ancestors traditions of being slaves of the glorious Punjabis of the Indus.
God bless Bush, Obama, USA, NATO, USSR, Osama, Taliban, Ahmed Shah Massoud, British, ISI, Pakistan, Northern Alliance and whoever else kills Afghans everyday.
God bless the man who invented drones.

Kandahar could be a corruption of the name alexander gave to the city he called iskandar to which over time due to inconsistent language transitions which consequently discredits transliteration from one register to another has caused this to become kandahar. There is evidence to suggest this however im a lazy ass guy lol but my anecdotes transcend wikipedia although wikipedia is a great framework for fundamental research :D

It's me or taghwar sound like afghani troll? Anyway Kandahar is confused with Gandhara because of name. This is common knowledge but now imagine how many historical facts are confused with each other because of similarity in name yet have no relation with each other. Especially going so far back.

This is the problem I have with most of the people here who attempt to narrate Afghan history. Only Samandri does honest and thorough work, rather than just looking for anything they can find that they think falls into their pre-accepted ideology.

Pactyan, Pakhta couldn't be a reference to Pashtun, since the "Shh" dialect of Pashto pre-dates the "kh" sound. The adoption of "Kh" came later.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

kandahar is not Ghandara, lool it's just Indians trying to steal Afghanistan history and make Afghanistan an Indian region lmao.

Gandhara was some region/city in Indian regions of Pakistan, very very far from anywhere in Afghanistan as this map below shows:

                lool

Afghanistan is a central asian country, and has never been part of any South Asian empire, in fact it's the opposite, Afghans and outsiders have ruled South Asia several times, most notably the Mughal Empire. Just look at the cultures, languages, genetics, etc. look at who has influenced who. Indian subcontinent clearly evident has been way more influenced by outsiders from the Northwest than vice versa, after all Islam, Arabic and Farsi languages reached deep into India, but Hinduism and Indic languages didn't even reach Balochistan or KPK in Pakistan. lmao

Beside Afghanistan and South Asian cultures are vastly different from one another. It's unlikely that Afghanistan was ever part of any South Asian empire. no history books even mention any South Asian united empire/nation, aside from those formed by outsider conquests of South Asia. There is a similarity in all being Eastern though, but even the Arabs and as far as Maghrebis/Berbers are an Eastern people/culture, that doesn't mean they are South Asian or South Asians reached as far as the Arabian peninsula. lool

Ghandara just happens to sound similar to Q/Kandahar (actually they don't even sound that similar) and were very far from each other, one lying in Southwest AFghanistan, the other lying around Punjab in Pakistan. There is more chance of K/Qandahar being ''Alexandria'' or ''Sikandaria'' as Alexander name was in Persian but even that is doubtful since they don't really sound that similar. Q/Kandahar is probably an older city formed even before Alexander's conquest of Persia, I don't buy the Eurocentric theories either.

I agree, actual Afghan culture is very central and west asian type. Indian culture is very different from west and central asian cultures, despite the Mughals and central asians ruling us for so long. I have been trying to explain this to my Pakistani and even Indian (punjabi sikh friends) for so long, yet they dont understand this. Punjabis generally think they are closer to Afghanistan then to rest of India, but this couldn't be further from the truth

Gandhara was sophisticated civilisation based around Taxila, it has very little to do with Afghanistan for obvious reasons.

what about Pakhtuns? I have heard that term previously, some Pashtun tribes call pronounce it ''Pakhtun'' or ''Paktun'' which makes more sense in terms of ancient term Pactyans.

I am not fully Mongol, I have around 1-5% Mongol blood which is directly descended from Genghis Khan himself, who I am very proud to be descended off. Mongols they are in Mongolia, but I have minimal descendent of Mongols/Moghuls, we ruled you Indians for 1000s of years.

and yes I strongly believe Gandhara was Kashmir, as the map shows:

This is correct map, east Afghanistan was historically part of India.
