It depends What they mean by the different words like Mediterranean. They usually try and classify to fit agendas but it Doesn't have to be wrong.

yes geographically it is that area, and also historically this component is most likley related to those areas and came down from there, I think that is the reason they named it such, however right now the frequency is highest in balochistan and surrounding neighbors like eastern Iran, Afghanistan, Balochistan itself and SindhOriginally posted by DaMalakandGhar View PostKarachi, isn't West Central Asia the region including Azerbaijan, Arminia, Anatolia, etc. ? The high frequency of this clade in Baluchistan also seem to be affirming the Baluch account that they came down from Central Asia.Last edited by Karachi; 03-19-2012, 03:19 PM.

There are different versions because some components are being broken further, for example before there was only 1 or 2 northern euro components listed ,but now there are 3 on the spread sheet

No, this component is not south asian and is actually closely related to the Caucasus component. Its basically very old, it is found in people from Europe, all the way to sri lanka. But it is highest again in the area I mentionedOriginally posted by Wahe Guru View PostKarachi, I would say the results do not indicate that Baloch themselves have mixed with Sindhis. As some of us commented before, including haviZsultan, we know that different groups in South Asia usually do not like to intermarry.
The other thing the results indicate, if we can apply the results to whole populations, is that the individual numbers of the "West Central Asian" component must have been quite high in the population of South Asia as a whole compared to say the number of those individuals in the "Baloch" population (which is a much smaller population).

Are you sure about that Mr WaGu?Originally posted by Wahe Guru View PostBut, assuming I am reading the spreadsheet correctly, then on the whole it shows that Baloch & Brahui & Makrani have lowish "Caucasus" component whereas the Armenians & Georgians & Ossetians & Chechens (for example) have a high Caucasus component and fairly low "West Central Asian" component. Even Turks mainly seem to have a lowish "West Central Asian" component.
Pashtuns seem to have a higher "Caucasus" component than Baloch. Maybe the Georgian governors left behind some descendants after all?

Probably, Med were West Central Asian as Baluch claim to have descent from.Originally posted by Karachi View Postyes in geographically it is that area, and also historically this component is most likley related to those areas and came down from there, I think that is the reason they named it sich, however right now the frequency is highest in balochistan and surrounding neighbors like eastern Iran, Afghanistan, Balochistan itself and Sindh

Mr DaMakaGhan, what I said was:Originally posted by DaMalakandGhar View PostAre you sure about that Mr WaGu?

Yes I am sure about what I said above - assuming these results are of any great accuracy applying to wider populations. It can be seen from the spreadsheet results shown currently.
This part was a joke. " Maybe the Georgian governors left behind some descendants after all?" BUT it could be true to some extent as the Safavid rulers moved 100s of thousands (maybe a few millions) of Georgians to the empire they ruled. We know that there were Georgians at that time in Afghanistan area and Georgians were sometimes the governors for the Safavid rulers, most of whom had Georgian mothers.

I did not mean the "West Central Asian" component is "South Asian". I only said that the number of individuals from that component (West Central Asian) must have been quite large who contributed to the whole South Asian population. Thats what the results (as given so far) indicate to me, assuming I have understood the results in the quick time I took to look at results.Originally posted by Karachi View PostNo, this component is not south asian and is actually closely related to the Caucasus component. But there is still a possibility that the component originated somewhere in South Asia or close to South Asia. I think if it is very old then perhaps there is a chance of that? Just going by some other things I read elsewhere.
And it cannot be concluded from the results that Sindhis (or others) are quite high in that component due to mixing with Baloch of today. There could be other reasons. If Sindhis are analysed more finely (eg in their own sub-groups), some of them might perhaps have the same proportion of that component as the Baloch.
How is the West central Asian component closely related to the Caucasus? Is it stated somewhere on that blog?

^ it's not stated in that that blog but Baloch usually cluster outside the south asia region, closer to Iran, this may indicate that (west central asia) at least part of it came from that region around Iran / caspain region, but that said you maybe correct that not all of west central asia maybe coming from there. Just like Northern europe components have been broken down further I think West Central Asia component can be broken down further too, I think in the future spreadsheets they might even do that.
But one thing is for sure that west central asia is not related to south asian component, the two cluster very far from each other. The west central asian component over all is closer to the Caucasus component, then it is to the south asian component, this is what i meantLast edited by Karachi; 03-19-2012, 04:37 PM.
