    Using a bit of common sense as it seems to me (I might be wrong however), your thinking cant be that far off? i.e. if Kalash were of Russian origin they should be speaking something more like Russian or if descended from Alexander's soldiers they should be speaking something like Greek or if they were related originally to people in Tamil Nadu then they should be speaking something like Tamil..

    I suppose it is though possible the Kalash originally spoke some totally different language and then switched to the language(s) they speak today.

      ^ not sure what you mean, their language is very old and is related to the other dardic languages in a way. The dardic languages are seen as one the oldest indo aryan language groups, in fact the Rig Vedas probably came from those regions

        I meant - that your comment about the Kalash seemed fairly correct to me! Though I am no expert on such matters.

          What exactly is a genetic grouping?
          Do you belong to any genetic grouping?
          You could say the Pashtuns have a set look. So do the Russians, the French.

          The Arabs are too big an ethnic group to be genetically similar. The Sudanese Arab looks almost subsaharan, the Syrian arab almost European. The Indo-Aryan Ethnic group is too diverse to be considered a grouping by genetics.

          I believe I do belong to a genetic grouping as does everyone else.

            • Strictly speaking, there are only three races. Caucasian, mongoloids and negroids.

              for me this is the best classification.

                actually there is only one race, (humans). In reality we are all 99% genetically related.

                Caucasian, mongoloids, negroids and Australoid are skull types, which makes these groups look different from each other

                ^ in between different groups of people there is mixing between these types. For example North africans are mix of Caucasian/Negroids. Indians and Pakistanis are a mix between Caucasian and Australoid etc...

                          • This is the latest spreadsheet from the Eurogenes dna project and these are the numbers of the Kurram valley pashtuns (20 samples)

                            I have combined the pashtun averages and this is what they reveal:

                            Atlantic Mediterranean = 1.2%
                            South Asian = 30.3%
                            West Central Asian = 35.8%
                            Baltic = 9.7%
                            West African = 0.2%
                            Caucasus = 17.6%
                            South West Asian = 1.9%
                            North Asian = 2.0%
                            East Asian = 0.6%
                            South east Asian = 0.5%
                            East African = 0.1%

                            ^ so the two major components of the Kurram valley pashtuns are west central asian at 35% and south asian at 30% and the third one being Caucasus component at almost 18%, The baltic northern european component in pashtun is almost 10%

                            The west central asian component is a very old west asian component but it is now centered in Balochistan

                            • lets compare baloch samples averages:

                              Atlantic Mediterranean = 0.9%
                              South Asian = 17.3%
                              West Central Asian = 63.3%
                              Baltic = 2.0%
                              West African = 0.5%
                              Caucasus = 4.3%
                              South West Asian = 10%
                              North Asian = 0.6%
                              East Asian = 0.3%
                              South east Asian = 0.8%
                              East African = 0.2%

                              Baloch are heavily West Central asians, to me this means they have not mixed with outsiders much and still retain the very old west asian component, which is (west central asian), though they do have 10% south west asian from arabian peninsula
