Nope, not at all we're strict on marriges, there are only a few non-pashtuns in my family (like 4) their Rajpoots, other than that we're all Pashtuns consisting of tribes from Afridi to Mohammadzai's and many others. The elders know pashto but they prefer Farsi or Dari over it.

But why do that? I mean there are cases where Pashtun man marries a Dari speaking wife...and many times the household within speaks Dari. But if you do not have intermarriages with them, then why speak it?
so what do you speak in your household? Sorry for asking these questions, i just find it confusing.

Haha its alright, I have no idea why our elders speak dari, when I go back to Pakistan for a visit I will defnitly ask. Right now I'm guessing it has something to do with coming from Kandahar. Since I hear their Pashto is mixed with Dari/Farsi, perhaps. In my household currently? We speak Punjabi,Urdu. and sometimes some Pashto/Dari commands like za. Remember my parents grew up in Punjab and they only people in my family that speak 100% dari/pashto are the elders, the children speak punjabi with little pasho/farsi commands.
And like I said earlier as far as I know there has been no inter marriges with local punjabs except 4 of my distant cousins or whoever they are we barley even see them and last time I saw them was when I was 2.Last edited by Guest; 08-17-2011, 01:23 AM.

So you just have all three languages mixed :D kinda like Kaish (i kid).
I didnt think many Dari words were used amongst Kandaharis, until i saw a few members use words like Tashakur, salgarya...
Its interesting that your elders do not speak Yousefzai dialect

Every nation on the planet is mixed with other races and in the beginning we were all one. Every tribe assimilates with its neighbours after some time that doesnt make them a mixed race because every race is mixed in that sense.Originally posted by Levanaye Zalmaye View PostThere's no such thing as "Pashtun blood". Pashtuns are descended from not only the original natives of what is now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but also the original Yousufzai who conquered it in the 15th century, Turks from Central Asia, nomads from the Caucasus, Jews, Aryans, White Huns, Arabs, people we'd consider "white", people we'd consider "Asian/Chinese", people we'd consider Aryan, people we'd consider Indian, etc, etc. Many non-Pashtun peoples were either Pashtunized over the ages by their Pashtun conquerors and there were also many settlers and conquerors that got gradually absorbed into the Pashtun culture and tribal confederacies.
"Pashtun-nes" comes from having a lineage (tribe, khel/clan, family, land, ancestral home), the ability to speak Pashto, respecting adhering to the norms of Pashtun culture and not necessarily green eyes and freckles.
There is such a thing as pukhtun blood and thats what we are. in fact we are far less mixed than most of the worlds ethnicities because of our strict traditions of marrying only within. Also we have very little Arab, blood, the Aryan thing is only a theory the white Huns many historians have said they were from the local tribes themselves and not foreign as some historians have claimed.
if someone said that there is no such thing as English blood would that make sense. i mean they have Anglo Saxon blood, Viking blood, German blood, French blood, Italian blood, Scottish blood, welsh, Irish and the blood of the original people of Britain who's name i have forgotten but do you see what i mean.
