Am I a Pashtun ?

Assalamou ailaikum brothers/sisters ,

I'm from a small island near Africa named Maurituis ! I was wandering if i were a pashtun or not ?!
My surname is Elaheebaksh and the surname of my grandmother is khodabaksh khan !
Am i a descendant of pashtun warriors because I have not the "khan" in my surname ?

My fathers told me but he was not sure that his ancestors originated from Afghanistan or Pakistan but they settled in India to work and finally immigrated to Maurituis ! Formaley My name is Elaheebocus - Elahee meaning Allah in arabic and baksh meaning pardon in arabic also but baksh was renamed bocus through generations !

My mother's side always claimed that they originated from Afghanistan and share a sort of "code of honor" which I was initiated !
Almost 90% of my family were born with a mesormophic bodies and is really well built and so do I...I dont know if there is any relationship between theese two ?!

A genetic test can clear half the mystery. Khudabakhsh Khan is definitely a Persian/Afghan name.

Yeah but its from my mother side ! Does it mean Im a pashtun ? And do you think Elaheebaksh is an Afghan name also ?

Hmmm I dont know the terms...but its like a thing that if one of your family member is getting problem you are forced to help him even if you are not familiar to him ?! And also to save one's honor when someone is searching problems or taunting however im not remembering the exact terms sorry... and also something like always trust God !

An expert in Qu'uran and Islamic Studies whose name is ShermahmodeKhan told me that the pashtun are normally well built and have an "Extreme" growth in power , force and endurance when they are really angry...

Any idea ?

Allah swt knows best, but i suggest the same as midnight sun wror take the genetic tests, all the answer will be clear inshallah, and for your question on temper its true in our families its even bad in women when they lose their temper theres no stopping them.

You know currently I have not so much money to take a genetic test...

The thing is that ive take some precision from my grandmother and she told me that they came from bombay in India and that her father always claimed that he was a "Pathan" !
My father told me that some of his family came from Bihar and some from southern India !

Really if someone can tell me how to know my race without genetic test Ill be very grateful !

hmm.. To be honest I don't know but the name Khan doesn't mean that they are Pashtun.
its mostly depends on your father

do you have information on Pashtuns and history in Mauritius?

i have heard there are many Pashtuns in Surinam who were taken there by British in colonial times from Pukhtunkhwa and balochistan and when they came to Surinam they were given jobs such as supervisors of people working on plantations but offcourse the Pashtun mentality got them up and revolting against the british.
