  • Gadoons

this is about Gadoons or Jaduns. most of them live in Hazara and with the passage of time have become Hinkowanans. the change of name from NWFP to Pukhtunkhwa had most vehemently been resisted by Gadoonwals. they are also very against Pashto language and are Hazarawal nationalists.

there are still some families that live in Gadoon Amazai but very few.

cannot they be re-converted to Pashtuniyat. we lament farsi and punjabi etc. speaking Pukhtuns but forget cases like Gadoonwals.

        .

for you acha ji,read who they are.
The Jadoons are descended from Ashraf also known as jadoon (Gadoon) of the Panni clan of the Gharghasht Afghan. Panni, Kakar, Naghar and Dawi were four sons of Daney who was the son of Ismail, also known as Ghurghusht, who was the son of Qais Abdur Rashid. The people of this tribe call themselves jadoons, but Eastern Afghans who change the letter S'h into K'h and "j" into "G" style them Gadoons as the letter J and G are interchangeable in the Pushto language, just as jillani and Gillani are synonym[2] They created three tribes: Parni, Kakar, and Naghar (Dawi mixed with the Kakar)[2]
The Jadoons appear to have been located near the southern slopes of the Spin Ghar range, west of Iri-ab, about the time the Khas'his, these give rise to Khas'his Khel or Khakhay Khel as it is having been obliged to vacate their old seats through the hostility of the Ghwaris, written in other accounts as Ghwariah Khel, and is the clan from which the Khalils, Mohmands, Daudzais and Chamkannis descend from. Both Khas'his and Ghwaris were brothers, moved northwards towards Kabul and, while the Khas'his were dwelling within the limits of the Kabul province, on the northern side of the range of Spin Ghar, the Mohammadzais joined the Yusufzi and Mandar tribes of that sept, and together with the Jadoons continued with them as an associated and allied tribe during their subsequent vicissitudes.[3]
When these tribes made a distribution of the conquered territories after the defeat of the Dilazaks near Katlang, and they had been driven out of the Sama'h, as will be presently mentioned, the Jadoons took the lands in the eastern part of the Sama'h, near the Abae-Sin, and there they still dwell. During the course of some four centuries, since the period in question, considerable changes have taken place in these parts, but not so many as might have been expected with reference to the Afghan tribes of this locality, but the Jadoons have, since that period, pushed across the Abae-Sin, and hold lands on the east, in Kohistan of Dhamtore, and are said to number near upon ten thousand families. They are subsequently referred to in the account of that district or territory[3]

The Jadoons (also Gadoon)(Pashto: جدون)are one of the largest Pashtun tribes in Pakistan. They are an acknowledged pashtun tribe of afghan origin. They originate from Jallalbad and are now located in Gadoon area in Swabi on the southern slopes of Mahaban Mountains, and partly in Abbottabad District and Haripur District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Their language is Pashto in Swabi and Hindko in Haripur and Abbottabad. They are subdivided mainly into 3 sub-tribes Salar, Mansoor

                jadoons are real pathans

i am deeply dismayed by the way you have spoken about jadoons.first you deliberately mis interpreted their whereabouts and then you contemptuously called them as "hindkowans" which shows your low level understanding of the pathan ancest0ry and pathan history.how ever i would take this opportunity to set the record straight and clarify.

you said jadoons was a small tribe living in sawabi district and some of them moved to hazara area and becme hindkowans.let me tell you that we moved to hazara not becoz of any fear or becoz we were not true pathans but infact we went there with the yousafzais as freedom fighters against the sikhs and this is a historical fact proven by the gazzette of hazara.sadly, you guys ,the new generation are too much moved by the superficial pakhtoonwali without even understanding it ,however true pakhtoonwali in its foremost lesson teaches you to identify pathan geneology.i must say that there is a tint of hatred and derrogation in the way you referred to "hindkowans" and this is the reason why most non pathan tribes of hazara have now become against pathans.jadoons ,tareens, sawatis,of hazara are very much aware of their pathan identity and trust me we are no less pathans than you guys, but the support for hazara sooba is more political than ethnic now.for example, all major politicians of hazara are some how pathans and they want to move the sentiment of non pathan masses to gain votes.in other words its simply not possible for the politicians to stand against the demand of sooba hazara else they would spoil their political career.
now let me tell you one more thing, your ancestory or "komiat" is never identified with language, ethnicity or komiat is identified with blood line.a jadoon speaking hindko is as much a pathan as a jadoon speaking pashto because the "bloodline "is same.it is the characteristic of jadoons of abbottabad that a very close observance is kept on all the new borns, shajrah is made, this means that our blood line cannot be polluted unlike many other tribes where people from outside come and take the name of that tribe.secondly, many pathans are fond of anp,let me tell you many champions of PAkhtoon rights in ANP are not pathans among them are the bilour family and haji adeel etc .still they speak pashto n u guys respect them.like wise if only speaking pashto is the standard to be pathan than tommorow a punjabi can learn pakhto and will u accept him as a pathan than? similarly many barbers, and meerasi type people living in peshawar speak pakhto, would u accept them as pathans than? the point i want to make is that language does identify you ethnicity but it is not the only standard to identify ones komiat.
the jadoons of hazara still do not marry their daughters to non pathan families ,we still wear shalwar kameez,we still have our hujras,we still have jirga system,we are as much proud of our selves as you are.
mehmood khan achakzai accepts jadoons as the blue blooded race of pathan tribe,he also visited many jadoon villages of hazara.and if we are hindkowans than what are niazis? are they punjabis ,cuz they also speak siraiki.
i hope you guys would think before passing remarks on any tribe from now on.
                regards and respect

Hmm... porfavor learn some facts before making random statements. Just because Jadoons have adopted the language of the area that they conquered and settled into, doesn't in any way affect their ethnicity. Just because someone speaks Pushto doesn't make him Pathan and vice verse. To be a Pashtun you need to have the have the genetics and follow the ways of a Pashtun. And wth is the Hazarewal crap that I hear about... just because Jadoons live in Hazara does in no way convert their ethnicity into some hazarewal. Many Jadoons also live in Swabi and they speak pushto while Jadoons living in Hazara speak Hindko. Just like anyone writing or speaking in English doesn't become English, thats why Jadoons living in Hazara speaking Hindko don't just become a random Hazarewal ethnicity. Don't try to demean others without proper facts. Shukran!
Also to clarify Jadoons are in no way against pushtu language. I as a Pashtun/Pathan have always loved the pushto language and I have always wanted to learn it. So don't speak for Jadoons especially when you don't belong in that tribe.
