[Cookiemonster]

[faye]

i was there in the seventies, 1977, but travelled by bus and didn't get to see kabul, unfortunately.

[Laila]

^ During that era.....Kabul was known for its modernatization, pop music, and such.....you could then been able to meet the late Ahmad Zahir ;-)

[faye]

i regretted missing kabul. just spent some days in herat and a few weeks in kandahar.it would have been good to see afghanistan in a vehicle, like these guys.

I am going to have to show these videos to my mom, its been more than 20 years since she has seen her birthplace, Kabul. She loved Kabul to pieces....she told me she left Kabul in 1983. She was crying the whole entire ride and walk from Kabul to Kunar.

[faye]

she will cry again when she sees the videos. laila, did you look up that site with the photos by luke powell. she would enjoy those too, i am sure.
these utubes are a terrific find, graveyardofempires. thank you.

Ha ha yes i did i looked it up right after you mentioned it to me, unfortunetly i havent came around to showing my mother at the moment, will do this weekend for sure.

Last summer i took a picture of her house in Kabul. When i should it to her, tears just came down right away. Still today, i have never felt that emotion of leaving your home, belongings, memories, and family, to move to a different place, not knowing what may happen next.

something we don't want to experience, where it is forced upon one.
