One cannot but appreciate the foresight of the Wali of Swat...Back in those days he had banned cutting trees even if they were on your own land or in your home...If you wanted to cut a tree on your own land you had to make a request to the state...then state officials would come make an assesment of your needs and let you cut the tree if your need was justified.

The worst thing that happened to Swat is its integration with Pakistan/Ranjit Sighistan.
