  • Background of Bani Israelite Theory

Many people believe in this theory and many pashtun tribes have been declared as Bani Israel by different non pashtuns as well as pashtun so far....Recently i saw a thread in the forum "Afridis are Bani israel" .....other says Yousafzai/esapzai are israel........I have studied different books regarding this theory and have discussed with many scholars......Here i am trying to discuss the factors that led to the creation of this theory.......under what circumstances the theory emerged let's discuss:

From the very first the pashtun history has been created rather than written by the historians. For the first time when Mullah Naimat ullah Harvi picked his pen to write pashtun history, he had already decided to prove something ……Everyone knows about it but let me repeat the story and the background behind the Bani Israelite theory , what were the factors that led to its creation…..lets discuss:
The rivalry between Pashtuns and Mughals is very old…and this was because each claimed itself superior and brave nation than the other………Babur the Mughal emperor defeated Ibrahim Lodhi the pashtun ruler of Delhi and gained the throne …….Later Sher Shah another pashtun took the revenge and regained the sultanat…after sher Shah the mughals were again victorious and thus the rivalry continued……this is human nature that the one who looses something always hates the other who have snatched it from him while the other do not give him a chance to stand again on his feet………Thus both Mughals and pashtuns considered each other as enemies but later with the passage of time some people from both the parties arose and tried to bring them close to each other so that they could cooperate with each other…..It was the time that Pashtuns were given opportunities to join military as well as other government departments. Many pashtuns got popularity and got titles from the Mughal emperors as a reward of their faithfulness to the king….Khushal Khan Khattak, khan jahan lodhi etc were few among them…….
Pukhtana’ da zrha’ na safa khalaq dee they forgot their old rivalry with the Mughals and showed their loyalty but the Mughals always considered them their enemies and whenever they got an opportunity they insulted them…..pa pukhtano ke bal sa’ daasey aib ya peghor kho na’ woo khoo daa wa che they were not aware of their history and origin. and this was the point that the Mughals used to mention to insult them that they have no origin…….they made many humiliating stories regarding pashtun race…..Mughals were proud of their race as they had a recent history having Chengez, Halakoo and Tamur etc …
It is said that once in the court of Jehangir the debate regarding the origin of pashtuns started an Irani ambassador insulted pashtuns and told a baseless story about them……He said that once the Irani king “Zuhak” was told that there exists a nation whose women are very beautiful ….King Zuhak sent his troops there to bring all the beautiful women to iran…….His General “Nariman” went there destroyed the country and brought about 100 beautiful women …on his way to Iran he stayed in a mountainous area where in the night a Giant(Dev) came in …the troops fled away leaving those women … the next day they again came to the place and found the women there while the Dev had left…..they took the women to King Zuhak but now all the women were pregnant of that Dev…..King ordered his troops to leave those women in that area as he didn’t want them now…..they were sent to that mountains where they gave birth to babies and thus Pashtuns are the children of the Giant……”
When Irani ambassador was telling that story some well known pashtun elders like Khan Jehan Lodhi, Haibat Khan Kakar, Hamza Khan Toghi, Umar Khan kakar , Qutub Khan and Zarif khan Yousafzai were also present ……Khudai khabar hagha wakht ba pa dagho kasano sa’ ter shawee vee when they heard that nonsense because today if a pashtun hears this from a non pashtun his mind would certainly burst…..

Such thing happened many times with pashtun elders whenever a Mughal got an opportunity to insult them he didn’t hesitated to throw mud at them. For example there is a famous historian Muhammad Qasim who was a Mughal and has written a book “Tareekh-e-Farishta” he used to call himself Farishta and wrote History to please Mughals…He in Tarikh-e-Farishta about pashtun writes:
“ I had found a book in Hind “Matla-ul-Anwaar” in that book it is written that pashtuns are actually “Qabti u Nasal” of Egypt. When Prophet Musa came to the Egyptians as prophet, preached there and most of the Egyptians that were Qabti u nasal embraced Islam but there was a group/tribe which remained on “Kufer” i.e didn’t came in the circle of Islam they were expelled from Egypt they stayed in Koh-e-Sulaiman they spread there and now they are known as Afghans.”(Tareekh-e-Farishta)
Farishta saib furthers says that “ the Afghans then went to Arabia and joind Abraha when he was attacking Kaaba and there they were killed by Azaab-e-elahi in the form of Ababeel”
If the afghans were killed in Arabia then from where did the present race came in?????
The historian get too much emotional that he forgot this……..further the book “Matla ul Anwar” that he has given reference was never found and no one knows about that book it seems that the book had only one copy which Farishta saib had found ….

Different stories were made by the Mughal and their supporters to insult pashtuns……but the later story that was told by Irani Ambassador in the court of Jehangir compelled the pashtuns of that time to find a respectable “Shajara” for them..
They were justified in doing so at that time as the mughals were constantly insulting and taunting them of their origin…….They sent Naimat ullah Harvee to Kabul to find a respectable Shajara for pashtuns so that they can show that to Mughals che daa ogorai mung daasey khalaq yu……
On the other hand Mughals were proud of their ancestors like chengez Khan, Halakoo Khan, Taimur , Babur etc who doesn’t deserve to be called Humans… (they were a kind of wild beasts who due to hunger and thirst left their desert and came to Hindustan and other countries and killed muslims and occupied the throne………In the history they are famous for their cruelties…..In Hindustan they made minarets from the heads of the Ulema’s and Buzargs, that they have killed……….The destruction of Baghdad is also well known to everyone when killings and looting continued for months and they destroyed the libraries of that time …….it is said that the work of Muslim Scientists that was in the form of precious books were thrown to Dajla river ….. so many books were thrown to Dajla that the water remained black for many days ……….Taimur was a Muslim among them but even he surpassed Chengez and Halakoo in cruelties )……And Their Grandfather Babur himself in “Tazuk e Baburi” writes :
“On that particular day we killed many people in Delhi and made minarets with their heads when we got tired we came to our houses. At night we offered Nawafil and then drank wine till morning and the next day we continued plunder and killings of pashtuns from whom we had took the sultanat…”

So the creation of Bani Israelite theory was the response of the humiliating behaviour of Mughals whose deeds have been discussed in above paragraph…..
God knows from where did naimat ullah Harvi find the Shajara …How does he carried his research and where did he visited in Kabul? Was that “Shajara” already composed by someone and was kept in a library at Kabul so that if someone needs it in the upcoming era he would find it here……….anyhow Naimat ullah Harvee presented that Shajara in his Book “Makhzan-e-Afghani” this books was translated in many languages later. This Shajara shows that Pashtuns are Bani Israel and that they are the descendants of the last ten tribes of bani Israel. This was a great achievement for the then pashtuns who now could proudly say to Mughals that ohh children of the wild beasts! We are the children of Holy prophets..
This theory became so popular that every one copied it . Every researcher lit his candle with the already lit candle of Harvee saib and called it his research…….but the fact is that the bani Israelite theory was the need of that time for the then pashtuns to escape from the insults and humiliations that they had faced due to Mughals..……

    Yusufzai P,
I enjoyed reading your write up.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

So are you guys denying that they are lost tribes? It's mentioned in the Quran that theirs Hebrew tribes, where have they gone, when they were exiled? Not all went to Africa, most Ashkenazi Jews living in Israel, are not descendants of the lost tribes.

I would like to read, a real history of Pashtuns, that are not Persian biased. Like Pashto being eastern Iranians, Pashto language being Iranian (when Pashto is alot different then Farsi). How will I know that the Persian bias history was written by the people who influenced Tamir Shah Durrani the qual?

the best way to answer this question is through dna testing, unfortunatly not a lot of pashtuns have been tested, the some tested are from Peshawar and they don't reveal much middle eastern genes in them, they mostly have south and central asian genes similar to their neighbours, they show only around 10% west asian/middle eastern gene in them.

^ now it is possible that when Bani israel came, they mixed with the local people at time who were living here in the afghanistan/pakistan border areas.

But to be sure, we need to test all the pashtun tribes.

You guys can actually submit your dna to many websites outthere to know your dna

Am not saying Pashtuns are 100% Israelite. But can have some genes in them, alot more then the modern Jew. Pashtuns have been around for a long time, so it won't be surprising if they mixed with some peoples.

i think you guys need to take a good look at pukhtane in this year 2011
the fact that we look ancient is enough to investigate.

                  explain this please

Eleven11 Signs of Muslim Army of Prophet Eisa (Alayhay salam)Jesus & Imam Mahdi
According to Ahadith the main signs of the majority of the Muslims (and the first followers) of the forces of Imam Mahdi and Prophet Eisa (Alayhay salam) are the following.
                  1. They will be Tortured, expelled from homes i.e HIJRA(as refugees) and Killed for Islam.
                  2. They will from the Non Arabs in majority
                  3. They will come from the East
                  4. They will be from the race of Bani Ishaq/Al-e-Haroon/Bani-Israel (Only them will fight the final war i.e The Armegeddon with the Christians )
                  5. Their Leader Imam Mahdi will be wearing QUTWANI CLOAKS.
                  6. They will be from the tribe of KASH .
                  7. They will come from the historical geographical region of Ancient Khorasan.
                  8. They will be famous as a fierce warrior nation.
                  9. They will be from a poor Nation.
                  10. They will be from a place with cold climate
                  11. They will be from the historical Taliqan region i.e Afghanistan
Now which race among the Muslims have all these 11 Signs?
The Pathans living in Afghanistan and Pakistan have all these 11 signs because:
                  1. They are Tortured, expelled from homes i.e HIJRA(as refugees) and Killed for Islam since 1979
                  2. They are Non Arabs
                  3. They are from the East
                  4. They are from the race of Bani Ishaq/Al-e-Haroon/Bani-Israel (Only them will fight the final war i.e The Armegeddon with the Christians )
                  5. They wear QUTWANI CLOAKS.
                  6. They are from the tribe of KASH .
                  7. They are from the historical geographical region of Ancient Khorasan.
                  8. They are famous as a fierce warrior nation.
                  9. They are from a poor Nation.
                  10. They are from a place with cold climate
                  11. They are from the historical Taliqan region i.e Afghanistan

The massive killing and opression upon this nation is even prophesized in hadith.
The following hadith clearly tells the reason for the massive killing of the people in this area.
Pity poor Taliqan (a region in Afghanistan) that at that place are treasures of Allah, but these are not of gold and silver but consist of people who have recognised Allah as they should have.Reference :Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-zaman, p.59

even kashmiries tested actually show roughly 10% middle eastern genes, and remember there was story that Jesus came to Kashmir in the missing years. These areas did have some connection with middle east in ancient times

I study genetics and yes indeed romani people are from south asia, most likely Rajastan or Sindh because these two provinces have always been famous for gypsies

But genetics do indicate they have also mixed a lot with europeans over time

I thought Susan Ollsson, author of Jesus in Kashmir, had arrived onto this site?

Wasn't it Shlombay, in his wisdom, that announced her arrival?

Potohari is a language of northern punjab, (rawalpindi)

as for gypsies there is no doubt they orginated in India or Pakistan, which area is arguable:

                              here is a article:

Linguistic and genetic evidence indicates the Romanies originated from the Indian subcontinent, emigrating from India towards the northwest no earlier than the 11th century. The Romani are generally believed to have originated in central India, possibly in the modern Indian state of Rajasthan, migrating to northwest India (the Punjab region) around 250 BC. In the centuries spent here, there may have been close interaction with such established groups as the Rajputs and the Jats. Their subsequent westward migration, possibly in waves, is believed to have occurred between AD 500 and AD 1000. Contemporary populations sometimes suggested as sharing a close relationship to the Romani are the Dom people of Western Asia and North Africa and the Banjara of India.[40]
