there is a dubious report that the taliban have been using white phosphorous against the foreign military which they have denied. the article i read was funny as the british said, 'no, not our white phosphorous, must be from leftovers from the russians' by the end of the article, different military groups are admitting to using white phosphorous in afghanistan, for smokescreens and other reasons. but......if the taliban had been using it against foreign troops, it would be headline news around the world! so who is telling porkies?

This speech does look really good.
I am coming back to finish the rest.

He's right, though, about "the statues" being the ONLY CONCERN of Westerners
      about the entire country !

Somebody starts a craze about one thing and all the Westerners follow right along without asking questions or examining the bigger picture.

I attended a lecture at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco by a woman who stated that she was suspicious about the story of the destruction.

She had taken photos of the Bamian statues some years earlier.
To her they were not completely destroyed.
This was right after the furor broke out.

Perhaps photos contradicting her idea appeared later.

But at least she was using the critical faculties that God gave her.
      It's so rare to find.

I appreciated that she was not going along with the crowd but
examining carefully for what propaganda value this
      campaign was seeking to generate.

It's a wellknown fact that many Americans and Westerners are involved
into Eastern religions like Buddhism: it's a fad, in my opinion, at its
height around that time, in fact.

So all the quasi-Buddhists were screaming in outrage about a country
they knew nothing about. But their anger could be harnessed to gather support for an invasion later that year...

Sort of like the Aisha cover of TIME: these have been used to the maximum extent to drum up support for the military takeover of the country.
      Because of ancient Buddhist statues???
Buddhism is about peace, after all, so it's a contradiction in terms to appeal
to Buddhists to invade a country, when one thinks of it...

I am still waiting to have time to watch it peacefully, without interruptions. I hate to stop a video in the middle!

In general, it reveals how the media is not BUMBLING, unable to access the proper people to ask for interviews.

Instead, they are simply RUTHLESS, crossing out any such possible defenses for the case of parties whom they have determined MUST be brainwashed in to the American psyche as "enemies" so terrible they have to be militarily wiped out, Saddam or Taliban.

One can see how cynical their approach is.
It's never a "mistake" that such interviews are not aired, let alone given
        huge publicity.

It's fully intended that way - so that Americans and the world have no access to hear any other side of the story but Washington DC's Official Party Line

Not so much different that the Soviet publication, Pravda, a mockery of the Truth it's title means.

People don't realize how authoritarian the Government and it's media arm have become.

What's interesting is that after the US invaded Afghanistan, Mr. Hashim here instead of fighting Jihaad some how managed to get into the US and actually pursue higher education. Just like all you other gungho kiddies.
