many of them also are unfamiliar with the dialects of a given region/district and give false interpretations either due to being under pressure and in fear of americans, or simply to cause mischief. many have been responsible for the purposeful destruction of homes, families, and villages.

i recommend for people to view this video which is a mere, microscopic glimpse at what occurs on a daily-basis with much more damaging effects ruining entire families and villages. so-called translators routinely call upon for the bombing of homes and peoples simply out of personal rivalry.

this is nothing in comparison but it still gives you an idea of how translators "get lost in translation".

there is a doc by Journeyman where you see this man with ak47 acting as translator and he is also very mean to the civilian shop keeper.
This is false, he must have been an ANA, also working as a interpreter. My uncle was in a firefight in bargematal, Nuristan in the summer of 09. The battle lasted close to a week, and they never offered him a weapon. I don't know about all the translators but my uncle whose in Kunar always tells my cousin to send him notebooks, and pens so he can give to the villagers of Kunar. Sometimes even bikes.

They are different translators, theirs a bulk of Afghans who live in other provinces who work as translators.

Belief it or not, but Afghans do talk to the US.

Are you talking about the guy, wearing a durag, wielding an AK? That's not a translator, translators wear army fatigues, similar to the soldiers but do not hold a weapon. Trust me, I have family that went, and none were not given weapons outside bases. They can pose with them, that's as close as they get. And, they def cannot interrogate people on their own, they dont ask any interrogative questions.

Am not trying to defend US actions, am just trying to clarify misconceptions about them. I was the same.
