those who have been to qunduz in afghanistan have told me the locals were saying that when afghans are martyred, their bodies do not decay or smell, and feel warm for very long, until they are buried. to me personally, they look so peaceful and emit such a positive, radiant aura.

they say that if part of an american soldier's leg happens to land in a garden, the repugnant smells perturb people from far away and crops surrounding it begin decaying as well.

Their souls seem so peaceful and content; it's truly remarkable.
    Qunduz:
if you happen to have a chance to ask for more details, please tell us.
I am extremely interested in this -
have there been any stories of what is called in the West
    "incorrupt" martyrs?
Meaning they NEVER decay after burial? Or not for many many many years.
Maybe no one checks. Perhaps that would be against the religion.

But even this decay of preservation is really something to hear about.
Very elevating, as well as sobering, makes one think about their own future
and to spend their life correctly while they have the chance to make changes
    for many who need them....!

      catya khorai,

yes, in islamic tradition, true martyrs do not decay.

i will certainly ask my aunt for more details.

my aunt a few months ago was telling me a story about the bosnian war. after the major serbian massacre, the bosnians asked for all their dead from that incident to be handed over. one of the bodies was dark, and there was controversy over it because a shaheed is supposed to become whitened and they didn't accept it. they thought maybe he was serbian. i wish was paying more attention to her, she had been very descriptive and detailed. (i usually drift off in lala land when she talks to me). but i think she concluded that since they lifted his sleeves and pant legs and he had been glowing and white, they accepted it. i will ask her again what the conclusion was. i know the events are 100% what she said about the darkness, and then not accepting it, and then lifting his sleeves and pant legs. as far as the conclusionand what happened, i will ask her when i see her some time.

in afghan/muslim tradition bodies are supposed to be buried as soon as possible. but on the battlefield, the anti-soviet mujahideen attested that their fallen fighters would be warm to the touch and fresh-looking even after 3 days..but then they would bury them.

in my father's kalay (village) there is a place where arab fighters from centuries ago during afghanistan's islamic conquest, had been buried. when my father was in his youth, a flood had wrecked the village to the extent that the body of one of the arabs from centuries ago was displaced from his grave. he saw the body with his own eyes, he described the man as white-colored with a dark beard. he had not decayed and looked fresh. the villagers then reburied him. my father told me this a few years back.

i am sure there are thousands of stories from indigenous afghans themselves who live through war and killing on a day-to-day basis. i myself am interested, and would like to ask locals myself sometime.

        Spectacular reply, thank you, sister!

I WISH you had taken notes when your aunt was speaking.
Next time you see her could you request her to re-tell the stories and write down exactly?

For: we all THINK we are going to remember precisely.
But: unexpected events often intervene, pushing these stories to the back of our minds.
Details get fuzzy, thereby reducing the full impact of such marvelous tales as she has
very kindly passed on to you.

That's astonishing about that martyr at Srebrenica - must have been where it was.
It'll be fun to hear the rest whenever you get the chance.

The story of the Arab conquistador, so to speak, is - IF POSSIBLE ! - MORE amazing still.
I would love to hear more stories like this.
Too bad all could not have been equipped with Kodak Disposable Cameras
so they could catch photos of remarkable incidents like these that happen once in a great while.
I am very grateful to hear about this, because I've always been interested in this special grace of incorruption or at least preserving of the holy much longer than nature would normally permit after death.

The faces in the videos here look for sure like they are merely sleeping sweetly, without a bad dream or worry to wake up to in the morning.

I have always wanted to research this special subject after hearing a few
stories here and there from the days of the anti-Soviet jihad.
To collect more of the remarkable incidents, and more precise details, and to pass these on to future generations would be a critically important mission.

Most of the shaheedan were completely innocent. I heard about this guy who just died at guantanamo bay and he was held without any charges.
