The story of the origin of the Ghilzai is completely false.

It was created by persian Shiites because the Ghilzais always gave them problems. Out of all Pashtuns, they hated the ghilzais the most.

Ghilzai comes from Khilji, Khalaj. No from son of mountains. That would be Gharzai, unless you mean that the parents of Ghilzai didn't know the difference between Ghil and Ghar.

You are right, and many other scholars and linguist don't agree with the term "Iranian". Instead many rather use Aryan, though because of the stigma attached to that word people prefer not to use.

connecting pashtuns to persian iran is just shows the biasness of all these types of articles.
some people take books written by people with an agenda as a book full of facts but the truth is we pashtuns have been deprived of the media.
remember back in the days these books were actually the media so it is possible that persians,british,Mongols used it to spread propaganda.

Saying Afghans are Eastern Iranic does degrades Afghans, it practically says we don't have any identity, just east or Iran.
