Afghanistan and Pashtunkhwa is a war-torn conflict ridden region for a very long time now and many conflicts emerged centuries ago. It is difficult to trace back the origin of those conflicts because Pashtuns have no written records like Romans. Instead, Pashtuns have a long tradition of oral history implicated in landay, matal and other type of poetry. To study our turbulent history is a difficult task due to the lack of literary records. Also, the demography of our countries is very complex, there are different peoples and tribes, each one has its own culture, language and tradition. Not only that, each tribe has its own diplomatic and political history, even small and unknown tribes.
Looking at the current political situation of Pashtuns we can say that there is still a great lack of understanding of our culture and politics, our history is simply a series of revolutions. While we are trying to find solutions to our problems, there are disputes among ourselves and politics of our neighbors are working against us.
However, we can say for sure that we will not see the very end of this conflict like our forefathers did not see it. We must prepare our children to be strong. They have to unify under one flag, they must keep the Pashtunwali and Afghanyat tight and they must resist the brainwashing machinery.
Since the system of our society is very complex, we must elaborate it. To me, tribal history and tribal identity is very underestimated.
What is the reason for our misery? Are Pashtuns resistent to modernization? Why do our people resist reforms and education? What is Pashtunwali and what is it good for? What does our tribal identity mean regarding our unification as a nation?
We must study the history of our tribes and understand inter-tribal politics. I have seen a couple of threads here on several tribes and I would like to see you, Pashtunforum members, to go on with it. I dont want you to search books because I know its difficult to find them. Just tell us about your tribe, its history and politics, if theres anything your parents told you, let us gather information and make an account.
