  • Afghanistan che kamaya shta?

Does kamaya people exist in pashtun society of afghanistan?

Kamaya (low caste) or karigars are those pashto speakers who live side by side with pashtuns in KP but are not considerd true pashtuns as
    1) they do not belong to any pashtun tribe and are of non-pashtun origin
    2) They do speak pashto but do not follow pashtunwali
    3) Pashtuns dont marry with them

Examples of kamaya people are damans, tarhkans, hajaams, mullahs, kumharans etc

They live as "hamsaya" with pashtuns but hamsaya can also be pashtun of other tribe.

Nowadays they have progressed a lot in education and are in high professions but still they are absent in politics of their areas. They identify and introduce themselves as pashtuns.

^The original inhabitants of KP were not pashtuns, pashtun tribes from afghanistan came here and drove these people to east of indus. The pashtuns were martial people and used to consider some professions low and inferior. They allow remnants of original people to work here as karigars. You can say pashtuns become superior as they were conquerors while original inhabitants were regarded of low caste.

It is assumed that these kamayas form 30-50% of pashto-speakers of KP.

In older times they were not able to buy/own lands and live as "hamsaya" among pashtuns. They were looked down upon by proper pashtuns.

Nowadays pashtuns dont have descriminative attitude with them but dont marry with them.
In addition to kamayas, there are syeds, shiekhs, qureshis, awans etc among pashtuns who have better social status.

              ^no, dhoti, lungi....

That is an indic dress, some Pukhtoon tribes in KP wear lungi, dhoti...Do tribes in Afghanistan wear lungi and dhoti? I also realize that those tribes who are closer to India/Punjaab region have this kamaya system, is it possible that these tribes were originally Hindu/Gujjar/Jatt/Murwari who became Islamized during the Afghan expeditions of Ghori and Ghaznavi, later adopted Muslim names, and are only related to other Afghan tribes by the fictitious linage of Qais Abdr Rashid (other then that they have no proof)?

This will explain why kamaya doesn't exist in Afghanistan, or in central Pukhtoonkhwa, but only in those regions that are closer to Indics, because the cousins Indics after becoming Islamized never let go of the caste system. In non-Pukhtoon regions of Punjaab kamaya are known as kamzat, for example midst the Gujjar/Jatt/Murwar/Rajput/Arian/Mughul people etc.

So the idea that Pukhtoon tribes from Afghanistan came and institutionalized this because they were a MARTIAL RACE (British terminology) is wrong. Only tribes who were Indics or closer to Indics, later Islamized during the Ghorid/Ghaznavi expeditions, practice this. Customs like wear of dhoti, lungi, practice of caste system, is only prevalent in those regions of KP (most eastern regions). They are also very pro Pakistan, and jivai jivai jivai Jinnah saib.

Central and Western tribes of Pukhtoons of KP don't have the kamaya system. And in Afghanistan, as you can see from the comments, its non-existent. These regions that have these Indic dress and customs are also pro-Pakistan unlike the central and Western KP tribes who despised Paki rule. Maybe something to do with relations and associations with fellow cousins?

So if I challenge your egotistical 3rd rate pre-historic notions of class and caste, I must be from Swat...you know, where we sell our daughters, according to you? Sorry, not from Swat, though wouldn't mind being from there. Beautiful people.

As for dhoti and lungi wearing Pukhtoons, check closer to home. I heard it gets hot in the desert.

Oh sha ta pa ighe khabaray khafa ye

I have heard from many pashtuns from different areas that some families in swat sell their girls. Many punjabis also mentioned to me name of swat and some other areas in this regard. So i will automatically assume that it will be true...though i hope it will be just a propaganda.

If it is done then most probably it will be done by kamayas of swat.

I have nothing against swat, i love its sweet people.

There is obviously discrimination against the kareegars. In our area, people say: kareegar kho ne yaan - I'm not a kareegar (you can trust me!).

I don't know about opposing or supporting landlords because every Marwat we knows owns some land either in Bannu or Lakki Marwat. The feudal system, as practiced in Punjab, Sind and Balochistan (where people are not just peasants but practically serfs), is nonexistent as far as Pashtuns are concerned. Some Marwats (Begum Kulsum's family, Anwar Kamal Marwat from our area, etc) own a lot more land than regular people but their support is always under threat from the JUI so if they don't work for the regular folk, they lose out. My point is that their power is not absolute.

As far as "selling daughters" is concerned, it is true. I don't know who those 'sellers' are but it is not a very rare practice amongst Punjabis and others who want pretty wives to "buy" wives from Swat. Perhaps someone from Swat can shed further light on this.

By the way, Luffy, didn't you once say that since my views are so skewed, I must be a kareegar? I still remember that.

I have heard from various sources that Pashtuns are homosexual, does that mean you are a homosexual? Does that mean we are all homosexual? Do you understand what I am trying to say? It's wrong to generalize and assume such things. Luffy, it's just not right. This entire notion of Pashtuns selling girls and we being terrorists should be refuted, not repeated.

Please brother, you can probably buy females from any place or city in the world, whether it be for a few hours or for life. We shouldn't mimic or reiterate the nonsense brought forward by our enemies. It takes me a few hours to make websites, I can make one right now and state all Pashtuns are war-lords, how would you feel about that? We should never scrutinize or portray the inhabitants of Swat in such a negative manner. They are proud Pashtuns, we should admire and respect them.

And No, I am not from Swat. But they are still my people, along with all Pashtuns.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Where i have said that people of swat are non-pakhtuns?

I said there are "some" families most probably kamzaats who are involved in it.

Pashtuns of swat are ofcourse ghairatmant pashtuns like rest.
