A nice comprehensive list of Pashtun tribes

Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

    -Ferishta, 1560–1620

      I have a query:-
There are many pashtoon tribes. What are the conditions for a marriage.
      1) Man and woman of same tribe is allowed to marriage.
      2) Man and woman of different tribe is allowed to marriage. I.e man and woman of same tribe can't marry.
      3) Both 1 and 2 is allowed.
If 1 is the condition then each tribe is an independent entity in itself. It doesn't need other tribes to survive and procreate. Then what is the binding force between each tribes to form a collective nation which doesn't discriminate on the basis of tribes.
If 2 is the case then each tribe needs all other tribes to survive and procreate. Then it can be a binding force to be a part of a nation.
If 3rd is the case then what is the need of so many tribes name. You people should just declare only one tribe, Pashtoon. It will unify each tribe in a collective pashtoon Identity.

A Pashtun can marry a Pashtun, tribal importance does not really exist.

SinghIsKing- where did you get this information from? As pukhtana stated, "tribal importance does not really exist".
"Do not lose hope in adversity and complain that God singled you out for punishment, remitting others guilty of worse sins. Your present state could very well be His intent to elevate your spiritual station. Or He could just be testing your faith. Everyday that you persevere, you grow closer to perfection. Thus, your present despair may be the beginning of an infinite blessing". - Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani.

I am also a member at defence.pk. I had read there in some thread that different pashtoon tribes struggle with each other for power. If some girl of one tribe falls in love with a boy of another tribe. It is believed as attack on honour of that tribe. But I was not sure about it so I asked this question.

Great share Admin Khan, but look here what I got:

Life is like posing for pictures. We pose the way we want to be seen by others. But stolen shots are better. They capture who we really are...

GOE I believe Mamund, Momand and Mohmand are the same. In pashto script mim, waw, mim, nun, dal.

I have not seen, an alif instead of waw to make it mamund.

I guess we have to wait for a mamund to stand up.
