None really.... we just dance... Dont see the point of all these wedding events... a simple registry office function would suffice

Innovation is correct for putting quran over a head.... what purpose does it serve? The prophet did not marry his wives like that nor did he marry his daughters off like that

Traditionally there are many wedding rituals for pashtoons... and it differs from tribe to tribe and from village to village...

here is a short summary of kandahari wedding...

starts about 2 to 3 days prior to wedding when the bride's hair is braided more like how africans do to ther hair... all women sit together and braid her hair, some play the "darya" duff and sing traditional songs for this particular event... my mom usually sings this song whenever she talks about this event but i just can't remember it right now.

a day prior to the wedding they do the nukrezi shpa... the bride's hands and feet are decorated with henna... they usually use a little piece of wood or warlageet to decorate her hands.

the wedding day the bride wears green color ... once her make up is done and she is ready... she is asked to hide her face in her palm or she is handed a dismaal to hold it in the palm of her hands and hide her face. she sits there with her face hidden until nikkah is done and the first person who comes to see her is the groom. the groom comes inside the women's area and the bride removes her hands from her face and shows him her face... lol...

once nikkah is done and bride and groom has seen each other , the relatives (men) start shooting in the air... (this part is scary , i have been there haha).

lunch/dinner is served... men gather outside and do attan and women gather inside and do attanh...

when its time to leave the bride is covered with a big shawl and upon her departure a baboo laalai song is sung by ladies... "osh walarr zangoon tarallai, osh wallarr................."

                and she leaves!...

Its simple... The only fard aspects of Islamic marriages are
1 Nikkah performed by any muslim male... no mullahs are needed
2 A dinner for guests which can be simple....
3 mahar for the bride and signing of contracts....
                        END
