they won't die either ..or do they :|Originally posted by eyeliner View Postplus you have to be quite independent in nature, to be able to stay away from home, not everyone can survive

Lol good point about the guys ..if only it was so easyOriginally posted by Guley View PostMove away from home, lol, good one. I'd never be allowed. But Alhamdolilah, now I completely understand, plus I'd hate to be away from them for so long. =/
I think it's good for guys though, helps them mature and stand on their own two feet, plus they learn to value everything more.
You can still look after your parentsOriginally posted by BehavedMaseed View PostStay at home and look after parents.

" when going to college/university do you think pakhtun men and women should..."
...do what works best for them according to their situation.
Moving out has its benefits. You learn to be independent, to look after yourself without having to rely on others. It prepares you for the big wide world out there. You learn to adapt to a different way of living and being responsible for yourself.
My brother moved out and it will benefit him greatly in his life as he mashaAllah attends the best University in the world. He returns in the holidays for a few weeks at a time.
Given such an opportunity, I would do the same. It's not like my parents are old and frail and need looking after. Both work, both are alhamdulillah in good health and they have four healthy sons. Of course I have a close relationship with my parents, extremely close in fact and they will indeed miss me as they make clear but even they realise that it would be best for me in the long-run if I were to attend a good university even if it is miles away & I would have to move out. They would never want to limit my horizons and I would be the same with my children.
There are also obviously benefits with staying at home like free food, accomadation, being with family etc. Doing so is certainly preferable and that's not just limited to Pashtuns. But in the end, people have different thoughts, some just can't live without seeing certain people, others can.
You people are exaggerating with talk of throwing them in old peoples' homes. Of course that's not right but moving out temporarily is hardly the same. If your parents are in ill health then obviously that's a different matter. You should make your decision based on your own circumstances. You don't have to be selfish but that does not mean that you should also unnecessarily limit your own aspirations for life.
If I do move out I will look forward to it. Not because I hate my parents or anything like that but because it will be a new chapter in my life.---
To advise others is an easy matter, the difficulty is accepting advice -- since it is bitter for those who follow their
own inclinations and desires.
