when i went to university i stayed home. it wasn't much far from where i live, well i did have to communte for about 45 minutes but i couldn't imagine living away from my family.

now my younger sister had to move out and dorm but she hates it!... so much so that she feels like she is in a prison there... she misses all of us so much.. even though she spends the whole summer with us and visits us when she is on her quarterly holidays...

we are just not raised in a way to be happy to live away from our family.

I dormed for a week - couldn't survive, dropped everything and came back.

Now I drive about 30 mins to my Uni... I dont mind the drive aslong as I have my home to come back to :D

Typically though, if the circumstances permit we usually stay with parents... only if the uni is some other state that my parents would allow any of us to move out. And plus, what could be more self-depriving than not having your Mums amazing cooking everyday
I desire that which is Just - House of Dukemina.

I had the chance to get into the 2-3 of the top 30 unis in the UK but I turned them down because I wanted to stay with the family. I'm sticking with my parents no matter what insha allah. Since I'm their only son.

I was the only one from my school to have gotten accepted into UCLA's medical program. And i dont regret it

Masha allah wow! We have a genius amongst us eh. Yeah, it was Allahs intention kana, we intend to do good by sticking with our parents everything will turn out right insha allah. My unis sky rocketing every year, its starting to reject tons of people now because they are simply not good enough and places run out a lot quicker.

Definetely stay home if possible at all ... if the university / college is not far, stay with your parents. I moved out when I started university and lived in a different city, it wasn't fun at all and transferred back to the uni in my city and moved back to parents house after one semester. you save money on housing, food, you have your support from parents, you have your friends, its just alot easier to stay home than moving out.

plus you have to be quite independent in nature, to be able to stay away from home, not everyone can survive

Move away from home, lol, good one. I'd never be allowed. But Alhamdolilah, now I completely understand, plus I'd hate to be away from them for so long. =/

I think it's good for guys though, helps them mature and stand on their own two feet, plus they learn to value everything more.
