Other than the obvious palawani/kushti in the region is there any specific pashtun martial arts styles?

Unfortunately I doubt they've been preserved. Other cultures are trying to use old manuals to revive their martial heritages (things like HEMA, some Arabs and Persians are doing similar for their cultures), but since we don't have a strong written legacy, I doubt there are any written manuals on Pashtun combat arts. I could be wrong bough, and it'd be awesome if there were some written works.

Aside from that, I doubt there are any villages that still practice swordsmanship or anything other than marksmanship. Judging by the design of our swords though, we probably fought similarly to Persians and Indians.

I trained in Indonesian Pencak Silat for 7 years.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Im thinking of starting with thai boxing but thanks to the ****ty systems of martial arts gyms etc. I'll just have to try learning it all on my own and i dont think i can get too good without an instructor so.

Yeah you have to have an instructor to show you the techniques and to push you to your limits.
I used too do Thai boxing and I can recommend everyone to practice Thai boxing. It makes lot of fun and you will get very quick tasma/takra.

Learning martial arts on your own is like trying to teach yourself how to fly an airplane. Probably not going to get effective results. You can however get some foundational neuro-muscular attenuation/adaptation by practicing movements, but that's as far as it would go. I also don't recommend doing conditioning work without an instructor, because if you're injured, you're more than likely not going to know how to treat it. I have had numerous injuries, without my Pendekar who knew how to treat such things effectively.

By conditioning work I mean, doing things like hardening your bones and training your joints and ligaments.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

I played boxing for several years. Then I started with Muay Thai and wanted to start doing Krav Maga. Unfortunately and surprisingly I got my ankle injured while playing football and not while getting beaten the hell up by another guy lol

I stopped doing martial arts after my ankle injury. now I am working out and trying to build some muscle (started like three years ago) and swimming on weekends. Honestly speaking I prefer it over martial arts. I am getting bigger and stronger and I don't intend to get involved in street fights so I am happy lol

when you say you can’t do it on your own, do you mean you can’t learn it off of YouTube videos or even if you were to get a membership somewhere??
Because you can if you pay a professional to teach you. And if you don’t have the dedication to stay committed to a program you join then that is not a martial arts problem. You have to join a program and then go to it for two months. After that, it’s a habit and you will achieve a lot.

Krav involves a lot of hitting on the ****. Its strictly self defence. You defend and run off. They do knife and gun situations etc.

Anything happens, you block, kick/punch the ****, and just beat tf out of the person.

                  I took it very briefly.

I want to take boxing but i haven't because

#1 I'm not certain i have the time and desire to commit
#2 I don't want brain damage. Sparring etc is necessary and I don't want any hits on my head.

                  You probably have brain damage.

That would explain so many things LOL

It should likely not be too bad, given that you probably only sparred at most. But it's probably still had an effect.

Though its rare , there have been boxers whose brains got so much damage as to cause them to become disabled and even paralysed.Don't forget Muhammad Ali also had Parkinsons.

What i meant was that i aint able to learn much unless i have an instructor.
