cinemas are commercial venues and the aim is to generate money.Originally posted by logical View PostWhat is progress to you? Last time I checked developed countries have cinemas in every corner. This is good sign for Afghanistan.
Afghans have no jobs and not enough to feed their families yet they want to extract money. Afghanistan needs progress not cultural invasion and imperialism.

All busnisses open to make money and these services are for people who can afford them.Originally posted by Akbar View Postcinemas are commercial venues and the aim is to generate money.

There are plenty of rich people in Kabul despite overall poverty.
People should learn to live within their means, if poor people can't afford it then tough luck.
At least it will create jobs for poor people working in the cinema.

Its not that they particularly like Indian culture...its cuz Afghans dont make movies anywhere in the level of Bollywood (last time I saw an Afghan made movie, the movies produced were of a level close to amateur level)...even though Bollywood is quite bad itself compared to Hollywood in terms of entertainment value so If the choice is between Hollywood and Bollywood, Afghans will likely choose Bollywood because since it seems culturally closer than Hollywood...even though Bollywood these days is mostly a copycat of HolllywoodOriginally posted by Firdousi View PostAfghans like Indian culture. Just hope this place doesn't become a target for Pakistani terrorists.
But both of these are toxics we need to keep out of Afghanistan...for sure...they will both intoxicate society...
IT seems most people want/like entertainment in form of movies...the only positive solution is for cinames to view movies made in tune with the culture in Afghanistan...preferably Afghanistan made films.Last edited by Kabulistan; 03-23-2017, 09:44 AM.

The ideaof Cinema is not bad in and of itself...it depends on what is being viewed there....Originally posted by logical View PostWhat is progress to you? Last time I checked developed countries have cinemas in every corner. This is good sign for Afghanistan.
Since the op says the movies streamed will be mainly Hollywood and Bollywood imported...this might have some undesired effects/influence on local/national culture....Last edited by Kabulistan; 03-23-2017, 09:42 AM.

...in general bollywood popularity is very Limited in Afghanistan...maybe some Places in Kabul people watch Bollywood movies...when I was in Afghanistan I never saw any commercial of Indian movies...only when I was in Pakistan I came across Bollywood movies and the commercials were everywhere...Originally posted by logical View PostAfghans in this forum live in another planet? Looks like the ones in Afghanistan love to watch Indian movies and what they represent.
why Bollywood might be popular with Afghans is mainly due to a lack of local alternatives of similar quality...if Afghans begin to make movies of similar quality as Bollywood, obviously people wont watch Bollywood movies..Last edited by Kabulistan; 03-23-2017, 09:22 AM.

Bollywood seems to be 99% westernized with only minimal Indian culture left portrayed...Originally posted by Karachi View Postoh please stupid turd, on one hand you think of Indics as subhumans, then all of a sudden you like our culture? go **** yourself you bacha baaz harami
Newer Bollywood movies depict Indians as some completely whitewashed people...even the language use half the time English sentences...lol

Why do you think they opened cinema in Kabul? Not for charity. Banning bollywood will not go well with India. Afghanis love to watch them because they understand and speak hindi.Originally posted by Akbar View Postcinemas are commercial venues and the aim is to generate money.

They are hindutani muslims who use khan name, they are not pashto but from ganga jamuni tazeeb. Most of biggest names in bollywood are hindi speaking hindus. In Pakistan also most of actors are urdu speaking from Karachi including all of our industry.Originally posted by Kakar-Wardak View PostIndians think because some of us watch their movies that we like them, that is certainly not the case even their movies show our cultural hold over them where a handful of pashtun descendants are the biggest names in Bollywood.

comprehension fail Of course I know that, I said descendants specifically lol it's funny out of a billion population the 2 groups with less than 1% population dominate their industry 'Pathans' and Khatris the others are probably not fair enough.Originally posted by logical View PostThey are hindutani muslims who use khan name, they are not pashto but from ganga jamuni tazeeb. Using khan doesn't make them descendants otherwise afghanistan will also half half decent movie industry. You guys are tribal and conservative living in caves, movie industry isn't your cup of tea.Originally posted by Kakar-Wardak View Postcomprehension fail Of course I know that, I said descendants specifically lol it's funny out of a billion population the 2 groups with less than 1% population dominate their industry 'Pathans' and Khatris the others are probably not fair enough.
Some of them are hindutani urdu speaking muslims and majority are hindustani hindi speaking hindus who dominate bollywood. Not any afghan or 1%, sad.

does this equate to progress? no
does this cater to general public? no
is it to promote cultural invasion ? yes
cinemas have always been there but at this time these things are totally irrelevant and used for wrong reasons.

personally i dont have an issue with cinemas in general but in the Afghan society it is seen as something negative.Originally posted by logical View PostWhat is progress to you? Last time I checked developed countries have cinemas in every corner. This is good sign for Afghanistan.
this is not priority in Afghanistan and definately not progress.
sign of progress will be proper roads, good education system , good security, honest and transparent government, self sufficiant in energy, etc.
