Borr is stew (there may be different word for it in your dialect of Pashto).......not eating stew with bread (dodai/tikala/marhai) is a western concept........

They didn't wholesale adopt the language and culture of their invaders like many "Arab" countries, Pakistan or north India. Throughout history people's languages and cultures have been engulfed by bigger players like the Persians, Arabs or more recently, Soviets and Europeans. At least Pashtuns have clung on to their own indigenous language, one of the few remaining eastern Iranian languages in the world. At least they have their own unique distinct recognisable identity, unlike many other ethnic groups who've just assimilated into a more culturally powerful neighbour or invader.

They have a good foundation. All they need to do is invest more in developing their own ethno-cultural identity that does not rely on foreign ideologies or cultures (at the moment, Islamic extremism and cultural/political influences from India/Pakistan are hindering this).
I agree it is worth preserving language, but only some good parts of culture need to be preserved, the horrific/barbaric parts need to be completely banned, not just from pashtun culture but many other cultures

Just a question. Why do so many non Pashtuns claim Pashtun heritage? Think about it bhaiyya. If we were so bad then your people wouldn't try and link themselves to us in any way possible. From some of the posts I have read on this forum about you, it's come to to my attention that you also are guilty of this.

We are by no means a broken people. We are as a nation going through tough times but inshallah we will survive like we have throughout the centuries. Contrary to your usual stupid statements, our culture is very strong. This is partly the reason we are facing so many problems.
brother it doesn't happen any more and like I said the (khan) name does not belong to Pashtuns only, it basically belongs to central asians over all. Most desi khans are fake anyway

Complete rubbish. It's happening all the time even now. I meet people all the time who think they are Pashtun because their grandad passed through Peshawar once. LOL.

The name "khan" is not limited to Pashtuns but is an archetypal Pashtun surname. So much so that if someone knows you are Pashtun, but doesn't know your real name, you will be referred to as "Khan". However our Desi brothers have abused this so much through false racial claims that me, myself and all my siblings do not have the surname Khan. Our fathers surname was Khan but he didn't want any of us to have Khan as our surname.

The Khan surname is too common and isn't really exclusive to Pashtuns that much...I think every Pashtun should keep the name of their tribe as their surname. My personal favorite format that is also quite common is, (given name) khan (tribe's name). So if your given name is Ahmed and your tribe is Yousufzai you would be Ahmed Khan Yousufzai. It has a nice ring to it and is a good way to keep the memory of our traditional tribes in an age of urbanization.

Surely they must have somethings since a Desi spend time on pashtunForums...lol

On a serious note, Pashtun culture promotes some noble values (Pashtunwali)...These guys with other Afghan tribes thanx to their Strong codes of life beat/resisted the world conquering British empire...same British who made entire South Asia/Africa/America their slaves and had to beg for mercy...

Any culture that promotes such ideals deserve some level of respect and is justified preserving...

.Pashtuns and other people in this Region have unique ancient cultures and ways of Life...losing these very ancient cultures would be a shame... diversity in the World is only good....

If Pashtuns continue to absorb the waves of cultural and genetic influences from India and Pakistan they'll have to reconsider their ethno-cultural identity.
Indian/desi culture has already been completely conquerored by West....Bollywood (inspired of Hollywood) shapes modern Desi culture...

Afghanistan is politically close friend with India, which is not bad in IT self but cultural influence from Sub continent should be kept at an minimum...

This is why I say people should not watch Bollywood crap...this is the medium a culture spreads and replaced indigineous cultures other than military/financial force..

It may well have started in Central Asia but ....

how many central Asians have you come across with the surname Khan? I have never in my life come across a central Asian whose name ends in Khan. On the other hand the amount of Desis (Indians and Pakistanis-non Pashtun? Who flaunt that name is UNTOLD-that includes women as well. You ever seen the programme "Citizen Khan"? It's a British programme. Classic example.

The name Khan has been rinsed so badly, that the people to whom this name originally belonged don't have it but all the other people of Indian origin flaunt it proudly. There was even a theory I heard once that Indian Khan is different, it's pronounced with less emphasis on the "n". Hell-they spawned a new variant of the name!

Just look at Bollywood. Everyone's a bloody Khan.

Exactly, This is called "hypergamy", due being colonized Indic men have an inferiority complex and are desperate to "marry up". On the other hand Indic women will let a Pashtun use her body before even thinking of letting fellow Indic touch her, but because Indics are cucks, they'll still accept her. On the otherhand An Indic man has to create this elaborate ruse of claiming Pashtun ancestors just to even get a Pashtun lady to acknowledge him.

                              Case closed.
