Definitely a false claimant. I met a Hindki from Kohat city who was claiming to be an Afridi.....the thing is Hindkos do not enjoy good social status in Pashtun society so some of them make such claims.....you will also come across such claimants in inner city of Peshawar. The fact is Kohat and Peshawar are exposed to excessive Pashto and no proper Pashtun there will adopt Hindko.Originally posted by toughpashtun View Post1) I met a guy from Kohat who was bilingual in both Pashto and Hindko, but Hindko was his first language. He claimed to be a Bangash Pashtun. If his claim is correct, then that means that some Bangash have adopted Hindko as their first language. Is this true?
2) Is there any other Pashtun tribe in Kohat that had taken up Hindko?Last edited by Samandri; 05-04-2017, 10:53 PM.

stop acting like you an authority on Afghanistan and how we live.
iam not going to argue about pukhtunkhwa as you are from there and you know beter but you cant in your right mind tell us about our society when you have probably never put a step in the country.
there are no words like nayan ,miangan in our society.
these are indian words.
in Kunar we do have people who work on our fields but they are our dehqanan, and they are fellow pashtuns and respected. In some cases their ancestors might have been dehqanan as well. Other such people are guards who again are treated like family are definately not poonjabis or hindkos but fellow Pashtuns.
In Afghanistan we do have Jattan, jolagan, bangriwalan.
bangriwalan are mostly women(most likely poonjabis) selling bangri.
jatt is mostly used as an insult but i havent seen someone claim to be a jatt.
Mullah's are respected members of the society and they are also in many cases used as intermediary to solve disputes, to give the religious opinion.
the closest i have seen something similar to what you guys are talking about is this guy and his brother who would play music at weddings, cook the food in weddings and they also do shaving heads and fixing beards.
they are mostly considered damaan, thats why sometimes barbers are also called dam. I suspect those brothers might be jatt as well, they and their ancestors were in the service of my mother's side family for generations. they take pride in serving the family. My mother side family is from Laghman.
i guess because of the poonjabi incursions you guys have alot of these remnants.

It seems you have superficial understanding of the society of your own place of origin. Either you are living abroad or you are raised in urban centers like Kabul. Daman, Dehgaan, Jolagan, Mullagan etc of Kunar are what you call denizen or hamsaya, the dependent people . Dehgaans are not people of Pashtun descent. The fact is Kunar has exceptionally high percentage of Pashtunized people of non-Pashtun roots. Even its ruling elites in history have been non-Pashtun Syeds (imposed by Mughals) who were most influential people among all in Kunar. Miangan are confined to Peshawar valley but they are not low-castes and they actually own lands (Kaka Khels are Miangan)..
Hamsaya is a very broad term , it also includes those Pashtuns who have sought protection amongst other tribes. Entire tribes have been hamsayas in history e.g Gadoons and Mashwanis were hamsayas of Yousafzais.......its artisan classes who were looked down upon in varying degree and are deemed kamasal. Karigars exist in Pashtun society of all regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan. But as mentioned Karigar is just one of the category of hamsaya. Composition of hamsaya vary from region to region.Last edited by Samandri; 05-05-2017, 11:00 AM.

Yo why're you calling him luffy? Far as i know, the two are worlds apart in terms of intelligence and sheer knowledge. One is a literal treasure trove of knowledge and the other was an idiot that hosted the "dhaal" awards (lol).Originally posted by Akbar View Postsamandri aka luffy

Oh and wrora, heard anything about "kasaaban"?? I think they'd be similar to the other "pashtunised" tradesmen? Their trade being.....well..... butchering stuff.......Originally posted by Samandri View PostIt seems you have superficial understanding of the society of your own place of origin. Yes , they are also included in the 'Kasabgar' category, their skill being butchery. Goldsmith, Iron-smith, cobbler, carpenter, potter etc are also Kasabgar. I think these professions are considered lowly by Pashtuns because in the past it were assigned to conquered and subjugated people, and they being warriors were not ready to commit themselves to it. So with time these professions itself became lowly in their eyes . A desperate Pashtun some times do these jobs in distant places and in secrecy so that no one come to know about it in his home village or town.Originally posted by ZarakDurrani606 View PostOh and wrora, heard anything about "kasaaban"?? Wasn't there a rumor about you being a karigar? If so that would explain your admiration for your brethren.Originally posted by Toramana View PostNayan, jolagan are the real respectable people because they don't earn livelihood through banditry as typical of tribal groups but through hard-work.Originally posted by Kaushika
majority of Hilly Rajputs are the product of these cross breeding and want to disassociate with their past. rajputs with rajwadi surnames consider themeselves superior but those native kings who look darker gets mocked as "gola" (mix breed, son of rakhile) so they actually invite light skinned rajputs and kshatriya tribes from Jammu region such as jamwals to sleep with their women so that their wives can give birth to pure white looking Native Child.

Lol-all of them have been ujratyan or highway men even mentioned by Ibn-i-Batuta. Since when they were recruited by Mehmud of Ghazna as mercenaries they have been doing this.Originally posted by Charsi Malang View PostI suppose banditry is a type of profession-lol. A little like "ujrat tob".
