  • Bull**** movies/dramas like janaan and sangi mar mar

What do yall think of that bull**** drama sang e mar mar? And what about janaan(havent seen that but it seems horrible)?
Lemme tell you my opinions. Janaan has got to be the ****tiest thing ever considering its a ****ing movie about pashtun culture but is directed by punjabis, in urdu and has only 2 pashtun actors in the whole film and even then only ajab khan seems to be a proper pashtun and not a gul khan.
Sang e mar mar on the other hand i thought was again, made by punjabis but turns out its made by some afriday gul khan who probably hasnt left islambad, lahore or karachi ever in his life to actually see pashtun society and not just spoon feed punjabis the stereotypes they make about us and legitimize it by leting them have the chance to say "a pathan made it so it is true".
I never see white people making films about black culture and having 0-2 actual black people innthe movie. Why should we see punjabis do that to us?

2 producers of Janaan are pathans, one being Reham khan and other Imran Raza. Both speak pashto. Why movie was in urdu? Because pashto films don't have much of a market and producers want to recover investment.

Dont know about Janaan, i have not watched it nor i intend to watch that shyt.......but this Sang-i-marmar drama is on cable so some times i watch its episode ....in my opinion it it is the most realistic depiction of Pashtun society in any mainstream Urdu TV......some one living in abroad will be clueless about it, you have to be living in a Pashtun society to know what i am talking about......its obvious its author is writing from experience and from observations of his surroundings, and thats why the drama has become very popular.....

Well i still feel its really horrible cuz from what i saw in the trailer its nothing like pashtun culture. Hell even the gul khan burger people of islamabad arent like that(well atleast i havent seen any).

Yeah well i somewhat get what you mean cuz most of these urdu media stuff about pashtuns end up being far more stereotyped than this but i feel it is still highly exaggerated. I mean the stuff that happens in that drama does happen but not the way they show it in their. And i feel like the closest thing to pashtun culture in mainstream pakistani media has got to be how they show us in the movie Moor. It has a more realistic view of us compared to this other stuff imo.

Actually you don't know much at all about Pakistan then. That burger gul khan was playing himself, he's from Islamabad in real life also and pakhtun and by all accounts sounded like typical burger in interviews. That role most have been easy for him.

Well if thats the case then its a whole new level of burger cuz i had burger friends who were sons of khans from charsadda and mardan and some of them were extremely unpashtun but never had they gone to the level portrayed in the movie.

Proper burgers only exist in upper middle class of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Obviously not everyone from these cities is burger, only certain section upper middle class. He sounded way to much like a burger in interviews.

                  watch this
Adorable bloopers by the Janaan cast - YouTube

With time this burger class will also be found in smaller cities, maybe it's already happening to some extent.
