  • Random discussion about Pashtun clothign and style and ****

So yeah i just wanted to contribute to this forum and **** so yeah. Ill start the discussion by three things. First being, what do they call the kapra that alot of pashtun men(often the elders) wear on one(or both) of their shoulders cuz i know it has many names and one name i somewhat remember is parna but i dont think thats the commonly used name for it. Secondly, Anyone know how to get that wazir/patiawal pakol effect on your pakol? I tried tightening the round part super tight and it kinda gives the whole round umbrella type affect itself(i asked a paktiawal friend and he told me it was a tying technique so i tried that before i could ask him to how to do it). Anyways yeah im new here but have been reading stuff here alot and was kinda sick of the whole "pashtun are white people" topics and wanted to talk about something different

    Welcome to the forum

The Kapra (clothe) you are referring to is called Patto and its mainly worn during cold weather on top of your normal Khat/partoog (shalwar kameez).

I have pakol but never tried that Waziristan style as I don't know myself how to do it. We have a member here called @DaBannuMazdigar who is a Maseed so he might know.

Nekrofrost ....interesting screen name, black metal fan?

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

        Ok head to toe:
        Langotai/patkai/lungi
        Or khuli / rakshini
        Khat/Kamiz
Sadri in my area is what pakis call waskat borrowed from their master, waistcoat
Partog / Pakistani say salwar or shalwar from Turkish / tombon in Dari
Tsapli / in Pakistan they say chapli or kheRi / butan

Light warm blanket is a patu (shari in Swat, Pakistan. The heavy warm one)
Light sheet in my area is a do pata (south) but in Pakistan it's a woman's thin veil

        Jamay clothes. In pak, kapRay.

        Dari: pehran is the shirt.

Looks like Pashtunes copy a lot of clothing from us south asian australoids.

MungoJerry, ignorant excretia: wtf is this? Mash up of some 70's hippdelia?
You claim "us" south Asian australoid, then go and down some hard liquor, get sterilized by the Aussie whites so you don't reproduce any more of your south Asian australoid ilk, I mean there is a staggering amount of you, disproportionate to your ilk's productivity to feed its kind.

Let me guess, you like 'pashtunes' but say that our clothing is inspired by you women's kurta tights dupata? Is that why you call certain clothes 'pathani suits'??

Baag ja kamenai, mai ne tumari bad niyat pehchaan li hai or tumari owkat sab ke liye zahir kar di. Bhonko jitna bhonkna hai, bhaago jitna bhaagna hai, lekin kahaa shupho gai???

Yahaan par sab pathan hai, nahi chorhai gai thumari hushyari ko. Shayat farsi walai tum ko bacha lai.

Do pata is another name given in the south to a sheet/patto, carried by men on the shoulder or wrapped or draped Over.

It's not the 'lal malmal da dupatta' you are thinking.

Words are spread amongst languages and meanings can vary regionally.
Indians and English go on in pajamas, the root is Farsi: pai-feet/legs, jame-cloth/cover.

So you think of desi ladies in do patta and giggle, because that's how some one who is not awake and aware Pashtun or still green behind the ears (anaRi: in Hindi) or pathan-ised would think of it. Travel to the heartlands of Pashtun people and you will hear do patta. Go to Peshawar and they will call it some name in HindiUrdu or mother tongue Engrezi.
