im not sure why you find that nonsense? you know pashtuns live in alot of areas, you can find alot of indians with pashtun lineage for the reasons the pashtuns used to rule them.

A few Indians being illegitimate children of Pashtun conquerors is hardly legit evidence of 3 million Pashtuns in kolkatta. I'd believe 5000 from khuda khidmatgar days tops and 1000 or so recent migrants....probably very closed knit community.

hmm im not sure itd be that little because i read an article some where and it claimed that there were 10 million pashtun decendants in india! and ive been told by some of my indian friends that many indians with pashtun lineage still exist.

There's no way there are those many Pashtuns in India. Honestly, they just have a fixated obsession with claiming Pashtun ancestry. Yes, Pashtuns invaded India multiple times. But they weren't raping Indian women 24/7, they were also breathing, eating, fighting battles, etc. And besides Pashtuns, there were also Turks, Arabs, Mughals, & Brits that rampaged India. Also, any Indians that had partial Pashtun ancestry are probably around 1/16th Pashtun or something, so basically non-Pashtun, and even those are a fringe minority. It's almost like the White people in North America claiming Amerindian (Native American) ancestry, but on a much larger scale. All those claims of there being so many people in India of Pashtun ancestry is just wishful thinking on their part.

I was told a story by my uncle who met an Indian Muslim in a mosque who claimed his ancestors were pashtun, and he said the reason why some Indians are Muslims is because there basically pashtun descendents since most pashtuns are muslims. But obviously since they were settled in India some of there blood was mixed. but if you look in places in india where pashtuns settled you can still find some people who look like pashtuns. I'm sure they don't just make these stories up. Also are you a Gadoon or jadoon? because im also from swabi and abottabad.

It is only punjabi pakistanis, sikhs and some nationalist hindus who claim pashtuns are south asians and afghanistan belongs to south asia. I am not sure what is the exact reason for this, as Pashtuns and in fact all people west of river indus are clearly not Indian, even a 5 year old can tell this. Even Kashmiries are not really south asian proper, they have a very different culture from indian plains, their culture is dardic

That said most Indians I have met dont even know who pashtuns are exactly, specially from south india, so you can't really say all indics think like that, I would say only the nationalists type do
