Stop acting so buthurt. Those people wear those things just because they think its pretty and nothing else. And when I see foreigners wearing afghan juwelery or cloths it makes me happy becuase somewhere in Afghanistan a poor person made this and could sell it to earn some money. not sure why you're more angry about this thread than we are about the actual cultural appropriation. Yes, they think it is pretty, but that doesn't give them the right to steal the imagery and ideas of the clothing/jewelry and make it their own. Liking it for what it is would be appreciation but mimicking and redesigning it is appropriation. They wear beaded parts of Kochayn jamey as mini skirts, and a man is wearing a necklace which is meant for women.... they're wearing our clothes wrong and making it a fashion statement. They call it "gypsy" fashion. Why would we be ok with that? I didn't post about it here because it should be our main concern. I'm not furiously angry about this. It's just something that is noteworthy. No one is physically being harmed, but that still doesn't mean that it's ok. Its theft of our clothing and jewelry which is then renamed and redesigned.
Pashtun lives are worthless to them but our clothes... well our clothes are "cool" "new" and "hip". Also they don't actually buy these objects from Afghanistan or any Afghans, they make them themselves and profit off of it.

I also have thought about this many times. I believe there is a difference between appropriation and appreciation.

I believe cultural appropriation is a weapon. It can be used to belittle or demoralize the peoples of the appropriated culture.

It is often clear when the culture is being appreciated vs. appropriated.

This is only my view, I understand many will disagree with me.
