  • You're not Afghan if you're not Pashtun

Tajiks, Uzbecks and Hazaras are not Afghans while Pakistan Pashtuns are Afghans. In history, Afghan only meant Pashtun, how German only means Deutche, how Hungarian only means Magyar, how Albanian only means Shqiptar. When in history did afghan mean something different from Pashtun?

      Yes once but not now.

Because the uzbek, tajik and hazara merged with afghanistan not because they cant be called afghan now.otherwise the real Afghanistan was the historic ancient Pashtunistan region.which is half the size of present day Afghanistan and include parts of pakistan as well such as kpk, fata and parts of balochistan

Yes you are right, Afghan means Pakhtun and only Pakhtun. Hazara, tajiks and uzbeks are NOT afghan and don't consider themselves to be. They call themselves "Khorosani" like whatever that means.

brother, they all are your brothers. we are muslims, pride is not acceptable in our religion. yes they may speak different languages but they still belong to afghanistan, since their families have been living there for years. they maybe not afghans/pashtuns but they still are afghanistanis, which makes them your brother.

For the sake of accuracy, for others who may read this post and be misinformed, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras, etc. consider themselves Afghan and become incredibly offended if anyone says otherwise. They do not say I am "Khorosani" - that's just false, maybe the poster heard it once or twice but I never have and about all of them self-identify as Afghan.

They do not consider themselves Pashtoon, however, and they take the word Afghan to not only refer to Pashtoons but all inhabitants of Afghanistan - they define it as a nationalistic term rather then a ethnic term like the way Punjabis, Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtoon etc. are considered Pakistani. The only difference, which makes things contentious is that Afghan and Afghanistan has denoted an ethnicity, Pashtoon, whereas the term Pakistan does not.

Non-Pashtoon minority groups in Afghanistan do, however, call Pashtoons "Awghan" and Pashto "Afghani" so they do implicitly, subconsciously or consciously, admit Afghan = Pashtoon but they take the line that we are all one now and Afghan just doesn't mean Pashtoon anymore.

Uhh yes not ALL of them consider themselves khorosani but the nationalistic ones do. Maybe I should have mentioned that forehand so that I don't get morons like you correcting me.

When you say something like the below quote I don't know how it could be interpreted as anything other then a general, blanket statement about a people:

It's disingenuous and misleading to uninformed readers - I don't know how my intelligence could be in question when you were, per your own post, wrong in how you wrote the post.

Your adab is as excellent as ever. I hope you'll reconsider how you behave tomorrow for Eid, "forehand."

Wow your usage of high vocabulary and antique display of maturity is of the charts! You should preach your so called "adab" to westernized Pashtun kids who are in much more need of it then me.

Are you a mullah by any chance?

                          • I'm not a Mullah, no idea what that has to do with anything.
                          • I don't know what an "antique display of maturity" even means.
                          • I don't know how what I have posted in this thread versus what you have posted could put into question my maturity.
                          • I also don't know how I'm using "high" vocabulary, its' pretty mundane English.
                          • About your adab, you are probably in greater need of adab then most of the people on this forum. Even if some people here have weird views or are stubborn about them, they at least talk with some level of restraint and don't make use of even factual ad hominems, let alone those you conjure up on your own.
                          • The way you talk is incredibly westernized - you can't say your not Westernized when you grew up in the West. I've also never encountered in the West an Afghan that behaves with the level of maturity you have, specifically in the last few threads/posts.
                          • More then that, the way you talk and carry yourself, random insults for example is bay adab and completely ignoring when someone contacts you, calls you out, etc. on a claim isn't very Afghan at all.

To begin, Eid Mubarak/Akhtar day Mubarak sah.

That being said, I don't know what your getting at or what broader point your trying to make here. Nothing disqualifies a person Islamically from saying such and such is of this tribe, such and such is of that land. When you classify anything, including inclusion in a race/ethnicity, there are qualifiers and rubrics for it like language, heritage, etc. Not dissimilar from how someone would or wouldn't be considered Pakistani, i.e., residency card, allegiance to country, knowledge of national language, food, culture, etc.

Moreover, many figures in Islam were known by their tribe or country/ethnicity. Only when you judge people as better or worse based on these traits is when impermissbility creeps in.

No disrespect intended, but introspection goes both ways - you have mentioned your a "proud daal khor," which is a term, rightly or wrongly, denoting Pakistanis, you have self-identified as Pakistani, your username says "Pakwatan" which probably implies Pakistan or Pakistan being a "paak" (clean) watan, etc. all of which imply hints of nationalism.
