      My concern is as follows,

Pashtuns have already been brainwashed into believing Pakistan is there state. Pashtun singers even sing about there devotion to Pakistan.

How can you convince them a loy Afghanistan? when we have nothing better to offer, our state is in rubbles.
Malgariya, now you are talking sense. Your concern is a proper, genuine concern.

Malgariya, I believe the super-vital and super-crucial thing here is the stability of the Afghan Republic. As the Afghan Republic gains strength, it shall be in a better position to positively influence the Pashtuns of Pakhtunkhwa. Secondly. I have seen the perception of people change since there relatives and friends got lucrative jobs in Afghanistan post 2001. If the Afghan Republic is on sound economic footing, the people will generally tend to associate themselves with the stronger and rising force. Thirdly, the state of Pakistan is nearing collapse. It has exhausted all but a few of it's bag of ploys and deciets. Fourthly, the regional situation is favoring the unity of Pashtun/Afghans. Fifthly, the Pakistani state has earned the enimosity of the tribal populace since 2004. Sixth, we are educating masses in Pakhtunkhwa regarding their political rights and their National Existence. All these factor are pro-Pashtun/Afghan. All of them need to be dealt with in a seperate post but they will serve as a good starting pont.

Now Shlombay!! that is a bit too much Kandahar pro comments, like Sher Khan referring to. Ha ha ha, I am beginning to understand what he was referring to about

Exactly, and that is where I always propose to better the Afghan Govt. in its economy, stability etc. over a period of many decades, with continued growth and development and when Afghanistan becomes powerful and economically stable and wealthy again, the Union/EU like partnership/any other scenario will become more easy to obtain.

I dont care who rules Afghanistan. As long as it is a good muslim who treats everyone with haqq in accordance to Islamic principles. Be it a Tajik or Pashtun or anyone else.

Basically, Nadir Shah answered the question. Shlombay you want to eat the cake and have it too. In order for unity you have to work for it, you have to build policy. If you are just going to give it up then what is the point?

well, Pashtuns ruled the whole region. They built palaces, roads and more in India, Northern Afghanistan, modern day Pakistan.

So why can't a non-Pashtun do the same ting?

Why didn't Pashtun rulers do anything beneficial for Pashtuns?

Which Pashtun ruler modernized our economy? Which Pashtun ruler built roads and infrastructure? Which Pashtun ruler modernized our education?

                NONE!

While we are proud of our "Pashtun rulers", we are blind to their short comings. Especially their lack of effort in serving our country. Developing it to something modern, progressed and strong.

The leader of ANP comes to white-house to visit Obama and them and when he returns he further says "Laraawbaryaw Afghan" I apologize but I cant be this naive.

I disagree with your claim that Pashtun nationalism is the reason for that. I wonder on what basis you have made that claim.

Granted that there are people who have used Pashtun nationalism for their personal interests rather than national interests but that does not mean that the entire struggle of Pashtun nationalists--from Bacha Khan till present--is useless. Do you know how many ANP leaders/Workers have been killed? Do you know how they have been threatened? You and me, reaping the benefits of being away from the wrath of Talibans, are raising fingers at them without even knowing that how their nationalistic affiliation has unleashed a torment on their families and themselves. Do you know how Mashar Afzal Khan Lala has been resisiting these militants and in what circumstances?

I can cite a number of examples to prove that Pakistani Govt. is insensitive to us but just consider this recent one: When your fellow Pashtuns were dying in Mohmmand agency, the Pakistani channels were giving more coverage to the Punjab Assembly resolution than the massacre of innocent Pashtuns. Do comapre it to the coverage they gave to the Datha Darbar attack in both print and electronic media. If a State does not care about the brutal killing of the innocent people, why will you expect me to think that they are our friends? I am not that naive either.

nazia, a lot of people aren't happy with the current leadership of the ANP. Moreover, why does one have to be tagged as a Pashtun nationalist if he places his identity before everything else? I don't like to be labeled as anything. Also, just because Asfandyaar Wali is allegedly corrupt doesn't mean that we nullify our national aspirations, does it? Age-old Pashtun practices are beyond just one person.

By the way, are you sure you wouldn't mind seeing your people being bossed around by Tajiks, Punjabis or Hindustanis?

Basicallz we discuss here personalities more than ideologies. As Nazia stated that pashtun nationalism lead to punjab slavery. There may be some persons like Aazam Hoti or some other Hoti etc, however ideology of pashtun nationalism can never lead into slavery of any one. Ya for sure it can encourage for friendly relationship with any one but its base then must be on mutual interest and respect.
Pashtun nationalism is no way a hurdle to be friendly with punjabis, tajiks, hazara uzbek, baloch or indians, however as I stated that on mutual respect. If someone is using name of nationalism and acting something else, then he is misusing the ideology. Same goes true to religion, why we condemn Mullah, because he misuse religion for his personnel interests.

Do you really want to get into this?every heard of Jalalabad? Nangarhar? Kandahar? Helmand? Since when did they start speaking Dari?

on a more realistic note, you guys have been known as ''Sarhadi' for nearly half a decade. You are the 2nd largest population and Pashto is hardly taught in Pashtunkhwa itself. You guys prefer to not even count in urdu but speak in Urdu.

Like Millitpal Noorxai said, there is a reason only Pashto is our national language. Not only is it official but it's national. So refrain from such a generalzation. The rate of desification is much higher compared to Farsification. We still hold LOYA JIRGAS.

You make a very valid point AfghanPrincess. It is this kind of "reverse snobbery" by many members from Pakhtunkhwa that becomes a barrier for the greater attempts at unification.

The common issue of a shared language Pashto is used here to divide rather than unite. There is nothing wrong with Farsi as a language with which Pashto shares much in common.

Urdu and English and the reluctance of Pashtoons in Pashtunkhwa to do much for their language at the print/written, academic and media level is much more damaging.

Come on why would let non pashtun rule over your land, are you feeling alright.
so you will let muslims (they can Tajiks, Punjabies, Arabs, Indians etc) came to your land and rule over you and they might even ask your sisters, Daughters for marriage then what you going to do, it will be their land.
Can't believe people who voted "It's acceptable to be ruled by foreigners as long as they're Muslim"...It dame right not Acceptable.
