  • Pashtun men - roses?

Iv noticed that in KP/AFG Pashtun men see roses/flowers/pink colours etc as some sort of symbol, is this part of culture, femininity, or just see it as a beautiful object..also could it be influence from other cultures - bollywood influence? or just a regional thing.

In our parched (southern) landscape flowers, especially roses make an aesthetic contrast.
As for their colour and aroma; that's a stimulation of the senses. Then there is the thorny issue; beauty with barbs, you can apply poetic parallels for romantic people.
In our home we have tried to maintain a garden, a gulistan, with rose bushes, flowers like yasmin and bouganvail and few fruit trees.
    I reckon it's a regional thing.

they grow very easily and with much less effort back home. the various colors and amazing fragrances make them very appealing which is why you would see men holding on to one or placing one behind their ear and beneath their caps at times..it's not considered feminine, it's just a thing that they do.

funny how one would consider using one's nose or appreciating the beauty of a flower, a feminine thing..

I miss the roses in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, we dont have those types of roses here in Canada. I think it is a desert flower

flowers were always cherished in the region as a whole. I think people that live in arid climates or environments cherish colorful things more than people that have colorful environments all the time similar to how people who live in cold climates cherish nice weather like canada vs people in florida or california who have nice weather all the time and take it for granted.
