    A disabled person
In your case I would tell you to pray to God everyday that you don't become disabled and that your wife doesn't become the breadwinner when/if you lose your ability to earn money.

thats exactly my point. I am not crippled. And I do not depend on others. So therefor I gave that as an analogy.

if u girls were married and had lived with a guy for a little while... you would know that guys are the laziest and the most "moft khor" people on earth. they don't just require to have a personal cook, they want a laundry woman, janitor, nany, just a personal care taker to take care of them.

the reason why a person who can cook is very important to them is because they are too lazy to cook themselves.

I think ALL people, both men and women, should know how to cook because it's a necessary skill to know (okay, fine, at least know enough to save your life!). What's the husband gonna do when his wife is sick and they have no servants/cooks, or their children are too young to cook?

I think it's sick and, yes, backward to look for cooking skills in a wife and make that your first priority. Just my opinion.

But for me, my husband *must* know how to cook. We can take turns cooking and whatnot, and he doesn't have to cook when he comes home tired from work and all. But he mustn't expect me to be in the kitchen 24'7 because he's earning the money and he thinks it's my "job" to cook. Good luck to him getting anything from me then

I don't plan to marry any man who cannot cook. BUT there's only one exception: If he's just the most brilliant man I know of and has all the things I need in a man to be my husband. I'll just take the period between our engagement and wedding day to teach him how to cook And he will learn it.

We should keep in mind, though, that we can get our spouses (especially husbands, lol) to do ANYTHING we want them to do. It's only a matter of the relationship that we have with them -- and I mean a real relationship, one where deep friendship is involved and you're not just wife and husband. If we (either husbands or wives) make only demands, are bossy, don't have a decent way of making requests or asking for something, then we deserve to get someone who is gonna be really rude and not cooperate. But if we ask nicely, we explain ourselves, we communicate well with each other, and we get the other to understand why it's better for one spouse to do X while the other spouse does Y, then I'm sure we don't have to worry about whether our partner can cook or not.

So, just respect each other -- and always seek (or demand it, if necessary) respect in a relationship -- and trivial matters like cooking won't bother either of you because it'll come naturally to you to just cooperate with each other.

                          Thats not true.

There could be men who have always lived with their parents or relatives who tend to be extremely lazy.

But not the ones who have spent time lving alone.

I wash my clothes, I iron them, I clean my home, I cook and I can take good care of myself.

                          Not all men are lazy.

Ahem!! Those who think that they would be lucky enough to get Pashtun hubbies with great cooking skills or that they would cook for them (even if it is turn by turn) live in fool's paradise (sorry to break your heart beautiful girls but some truths are bitter!tsk, tsk)

(btw,If there is one, please let me know)

Since childhood, men are fed by thier moms/sisters/other females (consider your khan-an at home) and so they want to receive the same kind of love and attention(according to them) and the belief that the food will actually taste better if being cooked and served by his mom/wife/sister etc. Men are always driven by tangibility--''doing'' and "giving" love/anything else in real life (eulogizing him in poem does not mean anything to him but if you make Afghani Pulao.... *drool*). That is why, MEN always (or most of the times) prefer beauty of WO-MEN more than her "maazgha".
Don't forget to read "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by John Gray for "why cooking is a requirement for a Pashtun Men"?
To understand everything, read some books of the honorable Sigmund Freud.

P.S. Cooking is the best weapon..use it!!
"O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".
"I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice, who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature".
