  • Is cooking a requirement for a Pashtun Men?

Why would anyone marry a woman who cannot cook?

Better to be single than to be married with someone who cant cook.

I would say I'm a pretty darn good cook. I make good money and I am independent. Why would I marry a man who can't cook? What would I be gaining?

Better to be single than someones slave.

Jasmine I think a woman who wants to be a wife and or mother one day should learn to cook but I don't think a man should hold against a woman if she has not yet learned to cook if she is willing to learn I hope that doesn't sound sexist of me but unless the future couple has the luxury of hiring a full time cook I think it's necessary

I think that if both work full time it would be wonderful if the husband shared in the cooking but usually that is only wishful thinking.

^Wishful thinking? DUDE, as long as the woman asserts herself, she can make him do anything. If you will be a pessimist and say from the beginning he won't do it, then he won't do it. It's all in the mind baby girl.

^ LOL, Khasgars ask that? Damn. Maybe backhome, but I've never come across anything like that.
If a guy knows before hand as to whether she can cook or not, and it means that much to him then they shouldn't get married because mentally he isn't stable. A guy who is more patient will realize it's an issue they can work out together.
I don't know where this is going so I will stop.

my mother spoiled me with her excellent cooking. Therefore, my standard is very high. If a woman cannot cook, she is not qualified to be my wife.

I find that as an insult, What if I am a good writer and have devoted my life to lets say politics rather then cooking? Why is it that in our Afghan culture we are so binded with cooking?

If Star cant cook guys wont marry her?

Jasmine how will they eat if she does not cook? Who will that burden belong to? To expect the husband to do all the cooking and work full time is crazy. Eating out and eating frozen dinners for the rest of life is not healthy for that couple or their children. I don't think it should matter if she is a gourmet cook but I think she should know how to make some things. She can always learn more later.

Every man is different and I am sure there are a few who wouldn't mind having a wife who does not cook at all

then she should learn before she decides to become my wife.

Trust me, no one would want you with that kind of mentality qualified or not.
                          Goodluck.

If the girl is nice and good I would hope that her desire to learn would be enough to accept her I thought you were trying to say that this girl NEVER wanted to cook EVER lol

a woman who cannot cook is like a man who cannot earn money to provide for his household.
