  • Why do Pashtuns curse themselves out?

Bozibali beekoz wegh ay uneek lot, een evghy wey!

I find it funny when the parents are related, you know either first/second/third cousins, or whatever, but bottom line is, they're always swearing at the grandparent they share, or uncle or aunt. Haghe neke de payaad ka, haghem la zaanta sarhay wayle. And it's like well, erm, he was your neke too ...

    ... I haven't given anything away have I?

I always found that interesting as well.
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I guess they do it because they are uneducated and dont realize?
No its not that they are uneducated, they dont realize it at all, especially when they are really ticked off

When i was little, my brother and i would crack up like crazy when our parents would curse themselves. We never took their anger serious once they did that, which annoyed them more

i don't think it's funny. my vocab in the vulgar department is very vague when it comes to english but when i hear curse words in pashto or dari., i feel very embarrassed.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.
