I moderated a defamatory thread sometime ago where one PFer was insulting kakkars.

Kakars are pashtun found in, zabul khas, and generally from loya kandahar, but now widespread. Then there are kakar hindus from hindustan, unrelated as they have an elaborate tracing system 'gotra' that totally delineates them from muslims and pashtun.

The wikipedia entry on kakar double checks with most points with my colleague who is a hindu kakar by claim and family name.

Wow you proved your point then. But I'm still dazzled that they carry a Pashtun tribe name such as kakar. If they are not pashtun then why carry the name? I just did some research and found out that the rohillas (Pashtun Indians) belong to this gotra caste you mentioned. Do you see any connection?

I dont think so, because , there are two are three main tribes sharing clan names of Isa Khel and Musa Khel.

Awan, they're many Awan who speak pashto and say they're pashtun but really they're not just adapted the culture and language.

Also the Kapoor family of Bollywood are Hindu Pashtun as well.

If I may suppose, tribe names liike Musa Khel and Isa Khel may have been formed after Islam came to Pashtun lands. Look at the "Bani Israel" hypothesis.
At least to my people happened the same after Christanity took over Armenia, new historians tried to connect every tribe with the Bible, also it was before quiet clear that their origin is far from any Semitic groups.

For instance we have one tribe, and later Aristocratic family that is described to be Chinese(but may be more of Turkic or Mongol origin as I suppose), they are called Mamikonyan (after their ancestor that in Armenian is ponounced Mamikon, but in original his name seemed to be Mam-Hun or Mam-Hon).

Concerning the Pashtun tribes. I find their divison really complicated and little uniform. At least to what You get to read. I Think gnetics would help very well to find out more about history of Pashtuns.

I just found out that some Africans in Nigerea have Waziri as their surname. I thought that was only exclusive to pashtuns? why do africans have it?
